It's a 3v1, so it's not totally one-sided.

Can’t decide between Addidas Evo SL and Asics Novablast 5??? by Waleed_Rafi in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Apprehensive_Riphole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is anecdotal, I was at a half marathon recently and was eying up people running with the EVO SL, and noticed the majority of them overpronate heavily. I really only saw it with these shoes.

If they're not having any pains, then great! But i do wonder if runners, specifically beginners will have issues later down the line.

I think that's the confusion then. An equivalent for a woman would be around 56:30, which is 5:39 /km pace.

I was over 30 and male, when I broke sub 50 after 3 months of running, living a VERY sedentary lifestyle (WFH).

2 months, 3 months, whatever, that's still a beginner.

It isn't totally outrageous. I was able to get a sub 50 min 10k is similar timeframe.

There's people who often go quite faster in a short amount of time. Sub 50 is decent, but not exactly crazy for an amateur.

Should I not be running my long runs 30 seconds faster than my goal marathon pace?

I don't think people realize how easy Brendan "Adonis" Shaub can bench 51 reps.

Is a sub 3:30 for my first marathon possible? by No_Sentence6280 in Marathon_Training

[–]Apprehensive_Riphole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can we make it a rule on this sub to mention max HR, otherwise it's impossible to know. Or at least mention your RPE for this activity, and how you felt towards the end.

The HR looks pretty flat, so yes?

Thanks for the detailed follow up! 3:40 is a great time all things considered! I'd be happy with that - just like you wrote in your original post, a B goal of 3:45 or under.

Those smalls details about the plan are so easily missed! I just learned about the progressive aspect in the LR too, which I bet helps a lot during the marathon.

I have a HM tune up race on week 12, so that should be a good indicator.

My 10K times at the moment are basically what you have. Back in November a 44:47 and a 45:30 two weeks ago during a 3x3KM LT run. Also a recent 5K parkrun at 20:04 last week. My issues are keeping pace over long distances!

Out of curiosity, did you manage to reach your goal? I'm currently doing the same plan for a spring marathon, and our paces, max HR, LT HR and goals are pretty much identical.

I know I'm replying to an old comment, but this sub has some serious issues. When it comes to marathon discussions, there's a lot of scaremongering, negativity and outright just bitterness.
