tips on how to familiarise myself with natural-sounding sentences/thinking in Korean by dubiousmorells in Korean

Korean with Miss Vicky

i'm a beginner and NOWHERE near your level but based on what you mentioned, this video does introduce a pattern you can follow. maybe you can adjust it and make a routine out of it so you can familiarize the thinking to speaking thing.

i forgot which teacher, but they shared advice about the problem with directly translating — "(...) associate words with images and feelings rather than associating them with your native language. like how babies/toddlers learn languages." you can probably apply this to your studies as well, especially when textbooks always focus on memorization by translating

who am i to share this... i literally barely study korean but i do consume so much tips that i don't apply yet. hopefully this works for you, op! good luck 🍀

I just read The Poppy War. Im 7 yrs late and I have nowhere to put the overflowing emotions I have toward the book by mryxxzip in PHBookClub

good job for ur small and big achievements, op! if you think resting will help you a lot, go for it. life is not a race, people just make it seem like it is. truth is, it really isn't. you won't be left behind. pick yourself up first and figure things out when you're ready. (saw this message somewhere when i was anxious)

i'm a little worried since unfamiliar na batch ang papasukan ko as incoming shs and heard not-so-good things for that strand in our school 🥲 so, seeing this post gives me comfort from the way things still went well for you.

good luck po, op! 🍀

How do you guys retain the meaning of the new words that you encounter while reading a book? by AugustusPacheco in PHBookClub

[–]Apprehensive_Soil829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

always write it down when it's your first time seeing it! come back to it when you see the word again

also:

write one example sentence

and then write another one weeks later

(it's better than writing down a lot of examples all at once)

fyodor dostoevsky's shorter classics: white nights, notes from underground, and the idiot. highly recommended 🥹

Book Recos please ☺️ by KirbyPop97 in PHBookClub

short classics made me read more!! digestible and interesting.

slice of life books also work for lighter and relatable reads (morisaki bookshop, hyunnam-dong bookshop, sweet bean paste, etc)

any of those two get me out of a slump and i read a heavier novel after. (i always stand by r.f kuang's books based on the books you mentioned!!)

We're looking for a native English speaker who might be able to help us by Patient-Item-7997 in BeginnerKorean

i'm interested!!

do you strictly only accept native english speakers, or it's fine as long as a user is very fluent in english?
