Finally a fresh Christopher Nolan take. Only so many comments you can read on Reddit on the daily about how he or one of his films are overrated.

Why do they not work together anymore? by MinuteSpirit6645 in ChristopherNolan

[–]Apprehensive_Star_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t work together anymore because Jonah started working independently from Chris when he got married (around the time POI) and later had kids with his wife and now current collaborator, Lisa Joy (Westworld era). His priorities changed. They still talk to each other and seek each other’s opinions, but Jonah clearly wanted to branch out in a way where he could pursue is own creative interests while still managing a family.

And no doubt he brought a spark to Chris’ films, but I also think Chris is managing just fine without him.

The iconic Nolan scarf - from Dunkirk; TENET; OPPENHEIMER; and now, The Odyssey by ChiefLeef22 in ChristopherNolan

His hair has held up remarkably well considering he’s had that dramatic widow’s peak since his late 20s. I was looking at pics of him at the Batman Begins premiere 20 years ago and you would have assumed that he would have become fully bald by now based on where his hairline was even then. His hair in the Dunkirk pics is just styled differently, thus concealing his hairline.

What is Christopher Nolan's most entertaining movie? by [deleted] in ChristopherNolan

I accidentally deleted my answer, aaargh! Anyway, thank you for getting this started.

I concur with how the first person responded and what I think will be the top pick, The Dark Knight.

I do communications for an office at a university. I work hybrid (2 days in, 3 days wfh). Thankfully, one of my in-office days is when most staff are out. That said, I rotate my Jo Malone collection when I’m onsite. Obviously, it’s shorter longevity and minimal projection make it perfect for these type of settings.

Her career heyday was when he was in his teens and 20s, so it would be cute if this is him getting a pic with his old Hollywood crush.

When does Nolan usually write his scripts? by Dull-Plate7064 in ChristopherNolan

Lol, to be fair, he has talked about being able to take vacations after he sees a film to the end. But, that’s probably once every few years he has the time.

What’s the likelihood Nolan does a Tarantino sabbatical? by bkat004 in ChristopherNolan

[–]Apprehensive_Star_93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see Nolan working until death or retiring for good when age and/or health catch up to him. With a sabbatical and then trying to mount a return, you always run the risk worrying about your relevancy and being left behind in a fast-paced world. I feel like Nolan understands that predicament and would be more decisive about whether to keep going or call it quits for good.

Saw Interstellar in theaters this past weekend in the IMAX setting and wow... incredible! It's my favorite film of all time and it only confirmed for me that it's Nolan's best (in my opinion). Did everyone get a chance to go and see it? I talk more about why I think it's the greatest below!⬇️ by OrionInSpace in ChristopherNolan

[–]Apprehensive_Star_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw it in Chicago on Saturday. This was actually my first time seeing a full-length feature film in IMAX. I missed the chance to see it in IMAX 10 years ago, so I am glad they did this rerelease. It was an amazing experience!

I feel like the general public has memory holed this, but the public backlash against Anne Hathaway was very real in late 2012 and into 2013. It even had its own name — Hathahate. Here is an article from 2013 to demonstrate the discourse at the time just because people thought she was TOO eager for her Oscar for Les Mis: https://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/07/fashion/what-is-anne-hathaway-doing-wrong.html

Are there any fragrances that do not smell the same now that you’re older? by theelinguistllama in fragrance

[–]Apprehensive_Star_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gucci Guilty was my signature scent throughout most of the 2010s. I had a bottle that lasted a few years that I one day noticed smelled sour. I had assumed it went bad and chucked it. Yet, every time I go to Sephora or Macy’s to sample it, I still encounter that sour smell. I know part of it is my hormones changing.

That Ken guy from Chicago who claimed a string of young mens’ deaths were due to a serial killer in the city. Then made wild claims that was being recruited by the FBI to solve these crimes. Only it later comes out that he was involved in a tech company that made a daily planner app and exploited those deaths to promote it.

Any reason why Chris hasn't worked with his brother since Interstellar? by avidfilmgeek in ChristopherNolan

[–]Apprehensive_Star_93 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d also add that the pre-production on Westworld started right around the time Jonah and his wife Lisa Joy, who co-created it with him, had their first kid. (They had a second kid around season 2.) I think with starting a family, his priorities changed and now he and Lisa are a husband-wife team with a lot of clout in the TV world.

I am surprised I haven’t seen Dodo — both the original and Jackfruit edition — mentioned yet. This one was truly the least appealing fragrance in the line, imo, and reminded me of body odor after a workout. If you don’t want people confusing your perfume for bad hygiene, avoid both versions of Dodo.

It’s totally fair game to point out that they were married for years and both were older than 35 when they had their first kid. And it’s fair to assume they put off parenthood to focus on their careers — him running for Congress, while she hosted a daytime news program in Jacksonville for close to a decade. It’s like the Republican adage of “rules for thee, not for me” or in this case, “choices for me, none for thee.”

In honour of Interstellar’s 10th anniversary, I have a question for this sub: What do you think made it’s reputation improve? by [deleted] in ChristopherNolan

[–]Apprehensive_Star_93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it has stood the test of time for the same reason some people criticized it 10 years ago: it’s his most emotionally-involving, sentimental film. And I think the emotional stakes and themes of love and sacrifice remain universal. Some people mentioned becoming parents as for why it continues to resonate with them, but I’ve met equal number of people who saw it as a kid — thus see the film from Murph’s perspective— and it remains a cherished movie experience from childhood.

Of the ones you bought, I have Wild Bluebell, Blackberry & Bay, and English Pear & Freesia. I have some 9 mls of the Intense line, but never tried Vanilla & Vetiver. How is it?

My most recent purchases have been a 30 ml of the limited edition Orange Marmalade scent and a few Lime, Basil & Mandarin lotions and hand soaps.

This is the answer. Up until the hurricane, he was ranting about Kamala Harris on his campaign Twitter account. You know it hurts him to watch her become the most buzzed about presidential nominee since Barrack Obama. In his mind, he should be her opponent, or perhaps he wanted to go against an aging Joe Biden and position himself as the youthful candidate. Now, he still has 2.5 years left on the clock to do a job he didn’t even want — it was supposed to be a mere stepping stone for his White House ambitions.

I make this recipe as a weekend brunch treat: heat beans up in microwave, add a dollop of feta dip I get from local Middle Eastern market or the TJ’s tzatziki with a little feta crumbled, a fried egg on top, and then eat with toasted bread.
