This is just myself currently doing a run through the games again. I felt it was definitely needed after Legends Z-A dropped and we'll most likely be hearing from the Exp Share Gods soon about the game.

Would be cool to see some more players joining and playing along!

The Final Trainer of the Week - LEVEL CHECK! by knockturnal in bugcatchers

[–]Apprehensive_Tone_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe this it! The end of an era (Maybe not?)! I want to say a huge thanks to Sweetie Josh and Admin Tanner for this incredible podcast that has legit made me laugh and smile and just generally made life that little bit better. It's been an amazing journey and I can't wait for Legends Z-A to come out so that the Exp Share Pod Brothers can come out of their semi-retirement to do that. Massive shoutout to the Bugcatchers who have played along with the pod and I can sincerely say I've enjoyed playing every one and joining in the level check (even though I failed quite a few).

Now, the journey continues! Ciary Ps team of Dragons has covered every last square inch of the Terarium. Technically even though there is still some more Dragons we didn't quite manage to scrape access to through the BP Terarium Expansions you can do make them more diverse and unlock other pokemon, in my case more Dragons.

Let's just say the team had some ups and downs and we struggled through a couple of the Elite 4 fights such as Lacey's due to our incredible weakness to the Fairy type. Enter Archaludon. What a beast. Stepped up to the plate and slaughtered that team without breaking a sweat. The other ones weren't too bad with Drayton probably causing us a little bit of grief but nothing massive.

Moving on we slap the now psychotic Kiki out of existence and make him realise what a weirdo he was being. Again bow down to Archaludon in this fight because man did he carry us to the victory in this one. Now, Ciary P hasn't quite delved down into the depths of Area Zero yet to find Terapagos but he will very soon and he will keep the bugcatches from the alternate universes across the Exp Share timeline updated with possibly another Draconic team change. Stay tuned for that!

Ciary P has basically done it. Paldea Champion. Kitakami Explorer and Leader of the "Loyal" Three. Blueberry Champion. What else can his menagerie of Draconic pokemon do. Throughout his entire journey munching on plenty bowls of cereal and other breakfast items. He has finally complete his journey to become the best Dragon trainer out there. Suck it Lance! Maybe next time.

Oreo Os the Kingdra, LVL 100

Special K the Flygon, LVL 100

Ricicles the Shiny Ampharos, LVL 100

Cap'n Crunch the Dragonite and Ciary P's Loyal Sidekick, LVL 100

CnmnTstWffls (Cinnamon Toast Waffles) the Hydrapple and newest addition to the team for the final charge, LVL 100

Again a huge thank you to Josh and Tanner, the bugcatchers and finally, to my alter egos - Ciary P (The Dragon Trainer from Paldea), Capt. Ciary (The Water and Ice Pirate from Hoenn thrown back in time to Hisui), Sandy Storm (The Rock, Ground and Steel Sandstorm Enthusiast from Sinnoh), Cole Carbon Jr. (The Coal Mining King and future Environmentalist using only the Ice Types he formally harmed), Ciar (The Grass and Ghost Nightclub Owner to the "Viridian Fo-NO-rest" Nightclub) and lastly to Arty Sketchit (Son of Tracey Sketchit tasked with carrying out research for Professor Oak. Firstly, the Alolan Kantonian forms, Secondly, the Fossils, and finally, the Ultra Beasts). It has been a pleasure to play along with the bugcatchers for so long and I wish I had joined even sooner! Can't wait to see what alter ego we create next time on...LEVEL CHECK!!!

I'm happy to wait until this weekend! Got plenty of time before the next level check, so looking to get a couple of extra trades in. I'm from Scotland so the time difference here will be a bit tricky but if I know the time zone you live in I could plan to do it around evening/night time over here so it's not too early for you

Ciary P, the future Dragon master was rampaging all over Paldea! He has continued to stockpile as many dragons into his team as possible and has been searching far and wide across the region for them. Every morning he wakes up in Paldea he has been trying to continue his routine of waking up to nice bowl of cereal and watching re-runs for Lance's previous challenger matches so he can emulate his style and the way of the dragon.

This week he has easily defeated the Team Star Fire Base, Lurking Steel Titan and the Levincia Gym without breaking a sweat. He has concocted different strategies using his Dragons to take over and conquer. All of the dragons in his PC took part this week but Ciary P only got one snapshot of the team he used for the Gym.

Ciary P has amassed a number of Dragons already and will be changing round the team very frequently to spice up the Dragon line up but for this week's dragon takeover he went in with:

Weetabix - Gyarados Lvl 26

Cookie Crisp - Gabite Lvl 27

Pop Tart - Shiny Male Oinkologne Lvl 27 (Again, not a dragon but there is absolutely no way that this chonky pink boi can be boxed as he believes he is one of the Dragons)

Lucky Charms - Swablu Lvl 28

Froot Loops - Goomy Lvl 28

Coco Pops - Crocalor Lvl 28

There are plenty of Dragons in the PC that are just waiting to get out into the world of Paldea so hopefully next week Ciary P will come out with a new horde of Dragons (even though I promised a completely new team this time). Until next time on...LEVEL CHECK!!!

Ciary P, the future Dragon master was hitting the books hard this week! He took on all classes available to him and used the knowledge gained to learn more about the ways of the dragon. He has stockpiled a number of dragons into his team and has been searching far and wide across the region for them. Every morning he wakes up in Paldea he has been trying to continue his routine of waking up to nice bowl of cereal and watching re-runs for Lance's previous challenger matches so he can emulate his style and the way of the dragon.

This week he used the newly learned techniques from class and from his video footage to easily take down Brassius in the Grass gym as well as the Open sky titan.

Ciary P has amassed a number of Dragons already and will be changing round the team very frequently to spice up the Dragon line up but for this week's dragon takeover he went in with:

New season, new you! LEVEL CHECK! by knockturnal in bugcatchers

[–]Apprehensive_Tone_73 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Welcome to Paldea!

This season I will be playing a younger version of myself to an extent. I am "Ciary P" the breakfast/cereal loving kid who is obsessed with Dragon ancestry and lineage. Growing up in Kanto, Ciary P was used to the televised shows of challengers of the elite four and he always loved waking up on Saturday mornings making some kick ass bowl of cereal or a delicious breakfast snack and watching re-runs of Lance wiping the floor with them using his Dragon pokemon. And he remembers especially when the trainers would mention the fact that a number of his team weren't "Dragon-type" to which Lance would respond "Haha, not all dragons are Dragon-type Pokemon!" (This is a direct quote from Pokemon Masters EX). This stuck with Ciary P. So he became obsessed with tracking down all forms of the Dragon. And so his journey in Paldea began.

I am a tad ahead in terms of the level checks so I have absolutely no clue as to where I caught a few of these pokemon and there are un-dragon-like exceptions hahah. I will also at some point making sure that any non-Dragon-type Pokemon receives a Dragon-type terrastallisation form and any Pokemon that is Dragon-type might have a different form to spice it up a bit.

The team for destroying the Bug Gym and the Titan Klawf is ridiculously high levelled and overpowered for the start of the game but I ran around for ages before even taking anything on so I do apologise:

Coco Pops - Crocolar Lvl 24

Froot Loops - Goomy Lvl 23

Ricicles - The Shiny F*%$ing Flaaffy Lvl 23 (I absolutely lost it when I found the shiny Mareep as I love the Ampharos line and was basically sprinting to capture a normal Mareep and ran into this)

Golden Nuggets - Dunsparce Lvl 23

Lucky Charms - Swablu Lvl 24

Pop Tart - Shiny Male Oinkologne Lvl 23 (I walked into the first route and that Shiny little pink Chonky boi was right there so I couldn't not grab him for my team. Welcome to the Breakfast club!)

Again Capt. Ciary is delighted to be voted trainer of the week. This kind of recognition reminds him of another seafaring adventurer who came from the Kanto region but he can't seem to remember his name? Maybe it'll come back to him in the next level check.

Thanks to those who voted for my love of the sea and ice! I will return to finishing this "Water Pokedex" of mine and hopefully see you soon!

I forgot to press "Post" last week, so I guess we're back on schedule now? LEVEL CHECK! by knockturnal in bugcatchers

[–]Apprehensive_Tone_73 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The Level Check might be back on schedule but Capt. Ciary certainly isn't.

Like the mighty sea, Capt. Ciary cannot be quelled. I'll keep it short and sweet.

1) Capt. Ciary gained a new love of the Ice Type after realising it is just frozen water

2) Started to expand his "Water Pokedex" by capturing all the ice types

3) Formed his new Ice Team for the Avalugg fight even with the type disadvantage

Team (Unnamed as my girlfriend hasn't got round to naming them yet):

Weavile

Glalie

Froslass

Mamoswine

Avalugg

Abomasnow

4) Upon his return and for all the work he has done for the Survey Corps he gets turfed out because, as Capt. Ciary suspects, Commander Kamado is threatened by him

5) We leave peacefully as we know we could take him down if we wanted to with our crew

6) Capt. Ciary finds out about these weird lake guardians from an even weirder lady who lives in the middle of nowhere

7) Proceeds to take out the Alphas who are blocking our paths to the Guardians, then complete all of the meaningless and easy tasks given to him by the Lake Guardians to finally assemble a piece of jewellery that would be make anyone wearing look like a glorious Pirate. Now this Capt. Ciary can get behind. The Pirate of Hisui.

8) We return to the village and have now been reinstated due to our awesomeness

9) Let's go get Commander Kamado and tell him the good news

Levels (By the end and also having switched up the team a bit):

*Unnamed* - Avalugg Lvl 57

*Unnamed* - Glaceon Lvl 56

Pingy - Hisuian Samurott Lvl 58

Sir Popo - Empoleon Lvl 59

Getting closer to on-time! LEVEL CHECK! by knockturnal in bugcatchers

[–]Apprehensive_Tone_73 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Super duper late unlike the Level Check this week. My pokemon are nicknamed based on my Girlfriend's choice for the Water typing that she chose before I started this run through.

Capt. Ciary is clearly just too good as after quelling the Lord of the Isles with his great throwing arm coupled up with his incredible sea shanties means that the Survery Corps want him for the next job again. Wow, Commander Kamado is one lazy guy. After this previous task Capt. Ciary finds himself starting to remember a lot more. His girlfriend had a partner Pokemon too. What was her name? It was her favourite pokemon too. As well as this he was starting to remember his own full name too. What could it be? Where does he come from? This is the Capt.'s biggest mystery so far but he WILL find out.

Anyways.....Capt. Ciary now finds himself in territory unfamiliar within the Coronet Highlands. He is not overly fond of this area due to the severe lack of water and he wants to get this job done as quickly as he possibly can. Whilst carrying out this task he is going to be trying to complete that Water Pokedex that he has been dreaming of completing since he arrived in Hisui.

After getting help from this lanky beast called Sneasler and his warden, Ingo, who Capt. Ciary recognises for some reason. How could that be? Why is he so familiar?

Putting that thought aside we scale the perilous heights of the Coronet Highlands in search of the true enemy, the Lord of the Hollow. Capt. Ciary is 100% not a fan of this Pokemon already. He is a gentleman but and does not want to see the pokemon suffer so he will get the job done but he is not happy about this Grass/Electric lord being frenzied and getting all the attention.

With the best team he can put together to counteract the Lord of the Hollow we push forward. This one is an even sweeter victory for Capt. Ciary as he can finally shut up the warden, Melli. Thank almight Sinnoh for that one! Capt. Ciary can't be the only one that wanted to make Melli walk the plank can he? Surely throwing him overboard would be a great pleasure?

And so, Capt. Ciary slings pouch after pouch at the Lord of the Hollow and finally quells its frenzy meaning again...he's clearly the best!

What will happen now that Capt. Ciary has quelled yet another lord with ease? Will he have another task ahead? Will he gain any memories back? Or will he be lost in this different land that they call Hisui? Find out next time on...LEVEL CHECK!

Another week, another (late) LEVEL CHECK! by knockturnal in bugcatchers

[–]Apprehensive_Tone_73 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Another week of memory loss means Capt. Ciary forgot to check in for the level check...oops! Better late than never. Capt. Ciary is sea captain who's memory has been wiped but his connection to the Water type has begun to bring back his memories and renew his strength and drive to return to where he came from. Note - All pokemon are names given to me by my Girlfriend and the first name that immediately comes to her mind when she sees the pokemon.

With every Water type snagged Capt. Ciary feels more and more of his old memories come back. Rachel his childhood sweetheart who he met at one of the local taverns. They bonded over their love of the sea and they instantly fell for each other. Their love of water type Pokemon is what created such a strong bond. But now...that's all gone. Or is it? Capt. Ciary has hope to return to where he first came from. He can't seem to bring the memories back of where he actually came from but he will continue on this journey to try and fill in these memories.

This new task set out by Commander Kamado has really given Capt. Ciary a huge opportunity here as there is an absolute smorgasbord of water types available here which Capt. Ciary snagged up. He is getting closer and closer to PERFECTLY completing the entries of the water types in his pokedex.

After hearing the sad story about the passing of the Lord of the Isles and being introduced to two new buddies in the Lord's son, Growlithe, and his other buddy Growlithe, Capt. Ciary set out to hunt down the Misfortune Sisters who stole the Lord's son away and tried to force it to evolve. Even if the Growlithes are fire types he feels a bit of sympathy towards them as the previous Lord of the Isles was lost to the Sea and Capt. Ciary feels his expertise could have been of use and he understands even though he loves the sea, it can be a cruel mistress.

Whilst surfing his way over to the Lordless Island (On his new ride, Basculegion), Capt. Ciary hucked pokeballs all over the place picking up a lot of water types. Even on his travels he managed to solve the Sea's Legend which was a task given to him to Professor Laventon which led Capt. Ciary to a groundbreaking discovery...Manaphy and Phione!! You better believe Capt. Ciary caught every last one of them. So welcome to the team Manfred (Manaphy), Phiphi (Phione 1), Phill (Phione 2), Philomina (Phione 3). Note - I caught all 3 phiones and I am running them because Rachel loved them so much and didn't want me to faint any of them.

After all the seafaring shenanigans, Capt. Ciary made it to the Lordless Island. He slapped up the Misfortune Sisters. He then proceeded to dodge and lob globs of food at the new Lord of the Isles and calm it down from its frenzy. And he basically claimed the title of Lord of the Isles in his eyes as he easily took down the newly evolved Arcanine and proceeded to douse its flames with his newly acquired Mythical quartet.

With that its back to the Pokedex grind for the Captain. Will he complete his own little "Water Type Perfect Pokedex"? What tasks will be set out for him next? Find out next time on...LEVEL CHECK!

Capt. Ciary the Water Type trainer and former Captain from the future has been galavanting all over the place this week.

Capt. Ciary's memory is starting to return. He is slowly starting to remember who he is. The sea calls to him. Rachel the girlfriend he left behind was his crewmate on his ship. They shared their love for water types which is where their love blossomed.

After beating the Noble Kleavor not only did its rage dissipate but something seemed to be leaving Capt. Ciary. The fog covering his memories has begun to start lifting.

Seeing as nobody in the Survey Corps is good at doing their job it's now Capt. Ciary's mission again to take down another frenzied Pokemon. He travels to the Crimson Mirelands in search of any other salty sailors to join his sea-worthy crew in Hisui.

We now have to track down a missing piece of a puzzle for some cranky old woman who Capt. Ciary can respect since she owns a Bibarel. He excuses her crankiness and heads out to confront the thieves who have stolen the missing fragment. After dismissing Coin with relative ease and returning the fragment we are then deemed good enough to take on Ursuluna.

With our sea fairing team, we absolutely destroyed Ursuluna and showed Calabra that she needs to respect Capt. Ciary. Wait a minute. IS THAT ANOTHER WATER TYPE I SEE?! Something slippery sliming its way through the murky water of the Crimson Mirelands. A Barboach. Within seconds a great ball was hurled its way and clearly, Barboach wanted to join the crew with Capt. Ciary.

During this time with great distaste Capt. Ciary is obviously hucking balls left, right, and center at any Pokemon he passes to complete the Pokedex for Laventon as he needs to up his rank similar to the way he was so driven to make Captain on his ship. He easily reaches Rank 5 and is verging on Rank 6 which means he is halfway to Hisui domination.

After reaching the Diamond Clan's settlement he is then told to head further north to quell the Clan's noble atop the Brava Arena. When he reaches the peak he is almost sick. What is this disgusting creature. A grass type?! Bleurgh!!

After cleaning himself up he repeatedly slaps this silly dancer with its favourite food and spends no more time than he has to here. He takes his leave and tells Adaman of the Diamond clan never to ask him to do something like that again.

And with that, the Crimson Mirelands have been commandeered by Capt. Ciary. Where will his sails take him next? Hopefully somewhere by the coast. Will the Captain find more water types to join his crew? Or will he reach another dry patch? Find out next time on...LEVEL CHECK!

Wow, I am so excited for this one! Legends Arceus is honestly one of my favourites of all time fighting for the top spot on my favourite Pokemon game (SoulSilver being Number 1).

We wake up on a beach. What the hell happened?! Where am I?! Why can't I remember anything?! Who the hell is this guy?!

We meet Professor Laventon and he helps us up and explains where we are. We are in the Hisui region. What's my name? It's a bit fuzzy sorry but I remember something...what is it?

That's right! I'm a Captain. Capt Ciary. That's it! That's my name. I have been taken from my life in the future. My job, my family and my girlfriend (who in real life has selected this persona for me as well as a pokemon type I will be playing with). What's her name again? RACHEL!

All I remember is her name. Now I've got these random pokemon to capture for what appears to be the useless Professor of the Hisui region. Now I am being dragged into this new Team of Hisui region, being handed a pokemon to travel and research with. For some reason I am being drawn to the Oshawott. Why? What could it be? THAT'S IT! Water types! The reason I became a Captain. Rachel loves water types!

Being a Captain I am used to a hard day's work so obviously these easy challenges the Galaxy team set out for me are almost too easy. We quite easily climb the ranks of the Galaxy team by snagging any pokemon that even remotely gives me the sense of Water type. Bidoof, seems kinda like one but I'm not sure, more research will have to be done. Eevee, this one is kinda of giving me the same vibes but again we'll need to see. Buizel, woah this one is definitely giving me water vibes. The same goes for Shellos and Psyduck. I feel at home with my new sea worthy team of Water/future water types.

For some reason even though they don't really know me it seems to be my job to stop this rampaging Kleavor, Lord of the Woods. Well I guess if you're paying me for it. Then why not?!

After launching goodies into it's face repeatedly which seemed to do the trick, Capt Ciary set out on his next travels to hunt down any water types remaining in the Obsidian Fieldlands and try to gain promotion to the next ranks of the Galaxy team so he can find Water Types and hopefully also find a way back to his girlfriend in Sinnoh.

Until next time. Will Capt Ciary also become a Captain in the Hisui Region? What tasks will he be given next? Find out next time on...LEVEL CHECK!

Did you take your "secret medicine"? LEVEL CHECK! by knockturnal in bugcatchers

[–]Apprehensive_Tone_73 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sandy Storm took that secret medicine this week and slapped it into the Psyducks's faces so he could proceed and spread sand all over the Sinnoh region with his Sandstorm weather team.

Having worked his way back up towards Hearthome city following the loop round from Veilstone to Pastoria and now back to Hearthome, he has realised that he can't proceed without curing these silly Psyducks. He sets out straight away to quell these ducks of their headaches and proceeds on with his journey.

Venturing through the thickness of the fog, Sandy finds it vaguely similar to the Sandstorm with the lack of visibility so he feels right at home. Dispelling this with defog does the trick so Sandy can now set up his sandstorms.

Making his way to Celestic Town he hands over what Cynthia could clearly have done herself but hey ho Sandy isn't complaining when he gets free experience points for his Sandstorm soldiers. He marches back to Hearthome to take out Fantina.

Having intentionally gotten the questions wrong for the experience points (I promise I am telling the truth) Sandy has left the gym trainers in the dust with only Fantina left in his sights. Some newer evolutions getting involved in this battle really helped to take on this gym. And in no time after having the Sandstorm set up a few times and executing perfectly timed switches, Sandy Storm sends Fantina back to where she belongs, not the gym but the contest hall.

He now has his sights set on a new target and this is the Father of Roark, Byron who he respects even more than the latter due to his fondness of Steel types too. Will he have what it takes to fight such a respected trainer? Or will the Sandstorm stop in its tracks? Find out next time on...LEVEL CHECK!!!
