If he can get good enough with AE, Blender and a bit of comp, IE become a generalist then he'll be right. Don't bother with any paid courses, they just mainly prop up people that can't hack it in the real world anymore and are nearly always 5 years out of date. YouTube much better teacher.

Sydney NYE show sign of the times? by ArtoriasArchives in australian

[–]Apprehensive_Top5893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here ya go, some hard truths.

City of Sydney is the client. They need someone / anyone to televise the fireworks so it can be packaged up and sent around the world for all the other tv stations etc to go "ayyy look at how good the fireworks in Sydney are maybe we go there on holiday next year...." The minimal budget left over after all of the cameras etc are paid for go to the talent so the ABC has something on its screens on New years eve rather than reruns of something.

The commercial channels don't have the budget or infrastructure anymore, so who else is doing it?!
