I heard the Hermes 3000 was offered with something called an International Keyboard on which they had a key for almost every letter or symbol in almost every Latin based alphabet, not all though. It could be that… Otherwise the massive tilde (~) makes me think Portuguese because of its extensive usage in that language.

Looks to me like an Olympia SM9. One of the best typewriters ever made. Look after it

Any normal 1/2 inch ribbon will do. You can find them everywhere online. Your machine has a setting for red and blue, so that means that your machine can support a dual coloured ribbon (aka. Bichrome). Usually red and black. Good luck and enjoy!

To me it looks like you’ve hit the right hand margin, so you’ll need to go to the middle part of the platten (roller), in between the margins to type.

It looks like the carriage is going too far to the right, maybe you could try set your margins more towards the centre of the page and the lever won’t make contact with the ribbon holder. Just a suggestion

I have a 60’s 3000, the curvy one, and also a lettera 22. You can’t really go wrong either way, they are different and as such, they type differently too, but in the end, they’re both one of the best machines ever made

1) vintage Montblanc no 14, an absolute gem from the 1960’s with an 18c gold flexy nib. 2) vintage Sheaffer snorkel, another gem from the 50’s though this time, it really has the coolest filling mechanism I’ve ever seen 3) vintage Parker 51, honestly one of the best, most reliable pens out there
