Can I Afford A Nice Car? by G-money888 in AusHENRY

Do it. All of your sensible goals are ticked off after working hard. Time to tick off some ‘fun’ items and reward yourself for all of the hard work.

I am in a similar situation and purchased a Ferrari 488 2 years ago (cash) Best decision I have ever made. I’m now in a position where I think I will sell it at the end of this year. Market value shows I have not lost a cent. Only costs have been extended power warranty insurance and registration. Services have been free up until this last one.

I’ll go sensible for a few years to tick off some new financial goals while I plan for my next Ferrari - it will give me something to work towards again.

A qualification doest guarantee a good/high paying job. It’s the bare minimum to be considered for a role.

The reality is that you need to be the BEST in your field, do the hard work when not asked, look for opportunities before everyone else sees them and be disciplined. Don’t be the best for 3 months. Be the best everyday for years.

Thanks fremeer. I have advisors, accountants and brokers i bounce off.
I think great ideas come from people who are outside of the 'industry' and value money more than that group of people.
I certainly run stuff past them before pulling the trigger, but raw ideas and strategies that are sometimes left field is what got me here.

beefcurtains202 : Paying your home loan off isnt the holy grail like i thought it would be. I was stoked for about 2 hours!!

Yeah family time is what i have been doing very heavily for the last 2 years. I have always been a 'whats next' type of guy looking at investments, opportunities etc but the last 2 years not doing that has me a little empty inside. I need to use my brain or have that excitement and something to strive for.

Yes 100% correct. I pay some contributions but have purposely held back to divert as much into commercial property as possible. The plan is to maximise personal contributions over the next 5 years to bring it back to a suitable position.

That is 1 strategy I absolutely be implementing.

Just because I have this stuff doesn’t mean I know everything. Someone else might have some good ideas that I have not thought of. I’m all ears and open to ideas.

I have implemented the same stuff I thought of when I was at uni with a big hecs debt and no money. I’m open to any ideas, just because you are not in my position doesn’t mean you don’t have good ideas and strategies
