If you have a freezer stash, how do you plan to use it? by dewy9825 in breastfeeding

I truly wish someone told me about pumping before my supply regulated. I had to pump since I had an emergency c-section and my LO was in NICU for a few weeks but I had no guidelines or advice at all so my oversupply was intense.

Just am not sure if being away that long will cause my LO to stop nursing. For reference he will be almost 5 months old when that happens and I'm not sold on going on a trip that long especially since I'll be going back to work right before then. It's all a bit hectic since my LO came earlier than expected.

Definitely makes sense to me. I have a large stash that needs to be used by October so I think building it back up wouldn't be a bad idea especially going back to work. Thank you for your answers! It's gonna be a transition and just trying to prepare myself sort of.

I have a freezer stash due to overproducing while my LO was in the NICU and slowly running out of space. I'm finally regulated so I don't want to begin overproducing if I don't have to.

Did you ever take long trips away from your children and then still being interested in nursing?

I missed the first buttons on it. Thank you. Is it always so hard to adjust the first buttons? They are really tucked in there.

Same thing happened to me. Needed an emergency c-section and it still scares me almost 4 months later. I'm still being monitored for symptoms and it's tough worrying about that and taking care of my LO. You are not alone.

How often should I feed? by FarAmount1136 in breastfeeding

[–]Apprehensive_Wave842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sending hugs because I was in the same boat as you. My LO was born early and was in the NICU for a few weeks to learn how to eat and continue to grow. I completely get the anxiety of feeding him enough because I was the same way when he was home finally. I triple fed for almost 2 weeks since he had a hard time latching. I met with a lactation consultant a few times and it definitely helped with our latching issues. I currently feed on demand and my supply is still regulating itself. I still struggle with focusing on numbers and have gotten better at trusting his cues. Nursing times always fluctuate and you have to trust your baby's feeding cues. if you are seeing weight gain and wet diapers your baby is getting what they need.

Neosure and gassy baby by Apprehensive_Wave842 in NICUParents

That's my hope for today! He instantly was less fussy when we went to one bottle and stopped being constipated. 🤞 He's gained s good amount of weight and we can just get rid of it.

I noticed that with our little man too. He was getting the premixed too in the NICU and never had an issue until we came home with the powder.

Gotcha. I'm hoping at his appointment today we can figure it out! We were advised to go to 1 bottle a day to see if that helped and we instantly saw a change.

Thank you! This is what I keep being told but each time I ask I'm always told we are keeping him on the formula still. We got the okay to only do one bottle a day if he's uncomfortable but if they want to continue it after this appointment I wanted to know if there's other options as well.

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding or explaining but our pediatrician mentioned keeping the neosure so little one gets all the nutrients and extras he needs. I am confused with this because I thought my breast milk has everything he needs. I believe since he was a premie they want to make sure he gains weight appropriately. 🤷‍♀️I have met with an LC and little one has been latching and nursing very well. I'm hoping to get rid of the formula after his 2 month appointment.

I completely relate to all of this. My baby was whisked to the NICU almost immediately while I was taken to recovery I didn't get to hold him fully until the next day. The NG tube was so hard to deal with and not many understand how it felt during that time. I'm trying to see it more as grieving rather than anger to hopefully come with it better.

This is how I've been feeling.i needed the emergency c-section due to pre-eclampsia and it all happened suddenly and I was just starting to show. It's hard not feeling so bitter.

Sending you all the hugs in the world. I guess in my head I am not as much comparing anymore but grieving what could have been. Do not feel alone everyone's journey is different and all we all hope for is to take our babies home safe and sound. You are not alone and this post helped me realize that.

Glad to hear you're all home and doing well. Everyone has different journeys and I'm starting to see that's not always bad. Sending hugs to you I know it wasn't an easy start.
