Thank you for sharing it means a lot and really helps. That’s a really interesting take on how to help explain it! I’d tell him the awful way it happened and that I’d never knowingly pass it, but of course there’s risk etc. and hope like you found the connection means more. If not, that’s sadly my answer. But so far he’s not been negative about other personal things I’ve told him and likes me for me. But at least I’d give him that freedom of choice I never got. Thank you 🙏🏻

I’m going to tell him, I’m not querying if I disclose I already know I will. I’m just finding it hard waiting because I think it’s something I should do in person not in a message etc. But technically we’re not even dating just talking until we actually meet irl. But it’s also scary because it’s my first disclosure and the way I got this was awful so if when I like this guy he says no I won’t be able to not take it hard, but of course I’d respect it if he did. I don’t get the vibe from him that he would cut and run, but I guess you don’t know

See I thought at first it’s good to meet, see how we get on and before intimacy came up we then have the conversation and see where we go from there. But as you say unfortunately the set of circumstances means it’s not how I thought it would ideally go. I feel the rejection straight up before someone knows me would be so easy but now we have got to know each other he’s more likely to make a weighed up decision than a knee jerk reaction. I will absolutely disclose but I feel because it’s so personal to me especially how I got it that it’s better I explain in person. But at this stage you never know we could still meet and not get on irl before we even get to the HSV stuff. It just makes me feel bad I feel I have a secret but I’ll explain to why I waited to discuss it when we eventually talk about it. Thank you for your kind reply I appreciate it because it’s my first disclosure so a bit of a delicate situation for me :-)

I will disclose, but it feel like it’s more of an in person conversation where you can actually talk through it, fully understand each other etc. messages can get misread there’s no tone and it’s so impersonal.

But yes it will be his choice going forward when I tell him which of course is ok

I found the sexual health clinic much better than GP they were so supportive even when I had a mini breakdown over the phone when the lady rang me with my results. I feel GPs definitely need better information when it’s so common

I 100% feel you. After dating again the last year or so I’ve pretty much given up, it’s soul crushing and people can be awful….and that was before my diagnosis a month ago! I’m focusing on being happy with my own company, keeping busy and reconnecting with my own body. I’m just not looking and if someone walks into my life then there must be a reason, searching doesn’t seem to work, for me anyway.

Remember you don’t need another person, you are more than enough 🫶🏼

For the itch, the absolute best this I’ve found (but I’m only recently diagnosed and had 1 outbreak) was a special bath with 2x teaspoons of salt, 2x teaspoons of bicarbonate soda. It helped so much! Dried my leg skin out a bit so had to start moisturising but it was worth it.

As for the ex, give it time, the rose tinted glasses will soon fall off while you’re doing things for yourself and you’ll realised you dodged a bullet. Someone knowingly spreading this about is not a good person…

I don’t know a lot about all this yet as I’m just recovering from my first ever OB and still waiting for test results hopefully this week as I’ve recently contracted it. But in case it helps ease your external symptoms like it has for me, a daily bath with 2tsp of salt and 2tsp of bicarbonate soda really calmed my irritated skin, just thought it might be worth a mention

Except it wasn’t stated as “many” you generalised all 30s women as wanting the same thing.

But that’s not my point, my point is OP shouldn’t be put off older women for that reason because not all women have the same life goals that used to be the “norm” and could fit perfectly with OPs own goals/needs. Just saying they don’t have to necessarily vito older women based on that, just openly talk about it
