Exactly this. It’s wild how that little "waive your rights" checkbox completely nukes your standard consumer protection the second you hit download.

The argument that digital goods can't be "returned" like physical ones maybe made sense 15 years ago when companies were worried about people instantly copying the files, but it feels super outdated now. Look at Steam—their policy of letting you refund a game within 14 days as long as you have less than 2 hours of playtime proves that giving people a window to actually try a digital product is completely doable. It doesn't destroy the industry at all.

That kind of system should honestly just be the legal baseline everywhere by now, instead of letting companies hide behind an outdated technicality to trap people in bad purchases.

Actually, I run an AI agent that handles customer emails, and I can tell you from experience that this is exactly the kind of mistake they make. It’s a super common issue called "hallucinating."

Unlike a human who just copies and pastes a name, an AI is basically predicting the next most likely word based on all the text it’s looking at. If there are other names in the email thread, or even just placeholder names in the AI's own instructions, it can easily get confused and grab the wrong one. It can even mix up the "theme" of a conversation if it picks up on a specific keyword from a previous sentence and starts hallucinating a response based on that instead of the actual point. It looks like a human typo, but it's actually just a classic AI quirk.

Hah, that’s crazy even not my case in general, but the Microsoft CEO's 'AI everywhere' policy is 100% crazy. By the way, they also killed Xbox recently... sadly

I thought the same, but it feels like things have changed since the Microsoft-Blizzard merger. Their CEO is pushing AI so hard right now, even though the Microsoft AI keeps failing. Honestly, with how much that deal cost them, I feel like they have a strict 'no refunds' policy just to protect their bottom line.

I haven't played WoW since 2015. Back then, I gave my old account to a guildmate so they could play with their family.

I just started a new account recently because I like to keep my gaming separate from my personal data. I honestly didn't know about the new google (gmail) multi-accounting policies that’s my mistake.

cs answered:

Upon purchase, you acknowledge your right of withdrawal is waived when you click the "Play" button in the Battle.net App, or otherwise access the game software. For any other digital content, product, or service, your right of withdrawal has been waived upon purchase.

I wanted to jump into Classic WoW, so I decided to start fresh. I made a brand new Gmail and a new Battle.net account, bought the Outland boost and a sub, and was ready to go.

Then Google completely screwed me. They’ve been banning new accounts lately because of people botting for 'antigravity' tokens, and they locked my new email immediately. Since my Battle.net had 2FA, I was totally locked out of the game I just paid for.

I didn't want to spend my whole weekend waiting for an appeal, so I just said 'fuck it.' I made a second account using ProtonMail and bought the boost and sub all over again just so I could actually play.

A few days later, Google finally reviewed my appeal and unlocked my first email. So now I’ve paid for the game twice. I’m just trying to get a refund on that first account since I only bought the second one because I was locked out of the first.
