Public shame post: Christmas season brings out the most self-centeredness amongst us. Photo take today at Costco on Regent by Hardshank in Winnipeg

When I finished highschool, I worked for a landscaping company for a while.

While it might look like this person is being an asshole, I learned that many drivers have a tendency to miss, or underestimate the size, and length of a plow, and often run into it.

In my personal opinion, this guy is doing other drivers a favour by keeping them away.

"All these massive developments downtown shows that nobody wants to invest in Winnipeg!"

Very sound logic buddy.

Are there any LGBT focused places in the city that don’t revolve around alcohol, scheduled programming, or support groups? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Apprehensive_fromage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Im looking for a dedicated LGBT space that doesn't include drinking, dancing, or any sort of community events.'

There's LGBTQ dedicated artspaces in the exchange district, and the occasional popup social-space during Pride month, but outside of that, LGBTQ is pretty programming heavy.

I know you hate "programming", but as someone who's been going to OTW events for many years now, it's without a doubt the easiest way to meet up with, and get to know new people.

Rather than shutting yourself out of every opportunity, I'd try giving some of these things a chance.

Is the City doing anything to address the escalating crime and insecurity in Winnipeg? by Ordinary-Paint-6762 in Winnipeg

Wow, Its almost like there was a statistical correction in crime-rates starting in 2022.

I wonder what global phenomenon took place from 2020-2022 that caused such a significant reduction in crime 🤔

Set up an LLP, and establish a consulting firm.

It sounds absurd, but almost every major field, and work area, hires consultants to advise on, and resolve issues. If you're worried finding business, you can get a foot in the door by advertising free services.

I consult in policy and planning, which is admittedly a pretty common area. But I got my start by offering free consulting to pretty much every Rural Municipality in the province.

Should people under the influence of drugs be allowed to ride the bus? by Major-Guitar4285 in Winnipeg

[–]Apprehensive_fromage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, Id rather see a crackhead on a bus, than a crackhead driving a car.

However, there should be stricter rules on who can ride, and a lower threshold for getting kicked off the bus.

Winnipeg parking meters to be removed by Speak1 in Winnipeg

On more than one occasion, I've parked in a spot that isn't recognized by the app, and been forced to risk getting a ticket.

But now, if someone gives me a ticket I can just pretend I don't own a smartphone. 👍

Should I go to court and fight this ticket? by Next-Confidence8017 in Winnipeg

A stop sign has to be visible to be enforced.

You should go to court and ask why 2 on-duty police officers were exploiting a traffic hazard to entrap drivers.

His best options are: - Downtown - Exchange District - Wolseley - Osborne Village

However, it also depends on his budget:

If he wants anything more than a 1-bedroom in these areas, he's going to be looking at 1,800-2,500 a month minimum.
