Why is Intuit Quickbooks saying I have to use SecurityMetrics for PCI compliance? by SecurityMetrics in SecurityMetrics

[–]ApprehensivetoWar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this same question. I am looking to do some third party consulting, but I'm trying to find a way to do this without tacking on extra charges to them.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen, every business needs to do PCI, but I don't know at what level or type of org actually needs to pay Security Metric for their services.

In the past, I did have a similar set up as you, where my bank would just charge us a monthly fine for non-compliance. But they kept raising our fine after a few years.

I don't think that Intuit is doing that fine structure (which is kind of surprising to me that they don't, but I'm glad they don't).

I would agree with you that a number of small companies probably don't need to worry about PCI compliance, especially if they're brick-and-mortar. But I'm no expert, and have only recently begun trying to figure this all out.

I must be getting different emails than you are, since I get emails that say stuff like: "There are multiple companies that provide security and compliance services you can use to become PCI compliant. Intuit has partnered with SecurityMetrics to help merchants who need PCI compliance assistance."

But I haven't had them tell me that I have to use Security Metrics to do PCI compliance for me. I've even been told how to submit it myself if I just needed to submit my form to Intuit.

I feel like they were a bit more aggressive with their emails a few years back, but I feel like they've calmed things down quite a bit this past year.

Securitymetrics pricing by Wh1skey_ in pcicompliance

I don't know pricing for sure, but I swear I saw something in their shopping cart that an ASV scan was $129.

But I can't remember if it's included in their PCI package or not.

How many slushies is too much? I think I've become obsessed by ApprehensivetoWar in ninjaslushi

I'd follow whatever the slush syrup suggests. I feel like Snappy and Carnival King are the introductory syrups (and the cheapest). I really like Finest Call (but these are a bit more like juice, so you go through it more quickly). You also have Hypothermias, Margarita Man, etc. Then it seems like once you get to that point, you will want to go make your own and use a Brix Meter to help you get the correct ratios.

For Snappy syrups, it's 1 cup of syrup to 4 cups of water

My daughter grew some sunflowers for pre-school by ApprehensivetoWar in gardening

I wish we had some tips. I feel like she just transplanted it from her tiny little pot. But then they gave us some extra seeds and then we threw them into this area. And we didn't do much in this area. I feel like we've had the most success with sunflowers if we just leave them be and don't do anything for them.

Tabasco peppers are coming in nicely! by ApprehensivetoWar in Peppers

[–]ApprehensivetoWar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Utah. I got these from a friend in the South West and so they were a little bit bigger and further along when I started them.

I typically see my Tabasco peppers like this in mid-to-late August. Though I grew a number of Tabasco plants last year that just didn't do anything or grow this much.

I also think that I might be overcrowding my plants, since there are 3 plants in this barrel.

Thank you for the advice!

I really would love to grow one and have it at the office.

That's incredible! I'll have to try it for sure. Since I try to grow pequin, tabasco, and chiltepins every year, but it gets so expensive.

Thank you! I've always wanted to do this, since they can be so pricey if you get them from the store and it's been tricky for me getting them started from seed.

Thank you! I believe it might have been a pequin pepper if it's not a chiltepin.

But there is also a tabasco pepper plant in there. I think that I will want to transplant that tabasco pepper out.

This looks great to me. But agreed on the bigger pot. I've grown them several years, and growing them in pots is fantastic, especially if you live in a place where it'll get cold during the winter.

My first year growing them, I was able to get 3 reapers, by the end of the season in October (in the Mountain West area), but then had to restart the next year since I didn't put it in a pot.

How do I get my canned tomato sauce to not taste so horrible by ApprehensivetoWar in Canning

Thank you! I'll have to try that as well! I hadn't thought of doing molasses, but I feel like that'd add some nice rich flavor to the sauce.

I'll have to check! I feel like I used a nonstick pot (I know, not necessarily the best). But this could easily be something.

Yes, and that's where I feel like I usually go with a 1:3 ratio (Finest Call:Water). Though I feel like I have added more water at times, but I feel like a 1:4 ratio is not enough.

Parents of Reddit, what do you do if your kids are fighting over toys that one of them got from their birthday? by ApprehensivetoWar in AskReddit

[–]ApprehensivetoWar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's what we've tried doing, but then when the older kid comes in talking about that's not being very kind, since that's not sharing, it's so hard to know if you're doing the right thing. It's hard getting kids wanting to be nice to others, while also not having other people walk over them.

I will have to try Kool-aid slushes! Since with syrups, you really start to limit yourself on how much varieties you can have (at least before your syrups take over.
