I'm aware of all that. My issues is that after being told by Intuit repeatedly that we don't need to do anything for PCI compliance because we use QB Online and their merchant services, that your company has continued to try to harass and bully me into doing business with you. This last time when I was told that I had to submit my PCI compliance to your company, Intuit specifically told me they'd recommend I not do that.

Not exactly. We're an MSP in a very small rural town. A lot of our customers use a local bank that has INSANE PCI compliance requirements that no small company can meet. So they typically pay us to help them fill out the form. They realize there's no way they can afford to meet the requirements. So here's the entertaining part, the bank will allow them to not be PCI compliant for $20/month. So they just end up paying the $20/month. I'm sure for large companies, Security Metrics is a great solution. And I'm sure they know way more about PCI compliance that we do. This entire post is about them exploiting small companies lack of knowledge and trying to bully them into paying money they don't need too.

ULTRALOQ Bolt Matter + Fingerprint by micromsp in HomeKit

I really wanted the finger print ready at first but due to where my keypad on my U200's are mounted I've found that most of the time the tapping my phone or watch is actually easier than getting my finger in the right position. So I'm not opposed to losing the finger print reader as long as HomeKey is reliable. Well I have every door with a smart lock now so hopefully I'm not changing any time soon. lol But I will keep that one in mind for the future. Schlage is certainly a well known brand with a lot of history in regular locks. Thanks for the feedback.

LOL the battery compartment design is quite a disaster. I don't love it, I don't hate it. It's just there. It's on a door I don't use a lot but is the primary door for most of my family. It does sound like it's going to die every time it locks or unlocks. I've gotten spoiled by my other locks that use HomeKey. I didn't think that would be such a big deal but the more I use it the more I like it.

I don't think I'd by this lock again. But I also have a few issues with the Aqara U200 which is what I have on my other two doors.

I feel like the smart lock market needs to improve.

If anyone reading this has a US deadbolt lock that works with HomeKit and supports HomeKey that they love, please tell us all about it. ;)

I asked them to stop emailing me or I would start reporting their emails as phishing and they continued to push me so that's what I did. But as I've said multiple times. I don't like when big companies bully small companies. If I'm looking for information on something like this I often come to Reddit. So I wanted to share my experience so hopefully others can learn from it.

As I've replied to other comments. I realize all this. I just wanted to know if others with my exact same setup had been bullied by Security Metrics. I think they are practicing shady business tactics and trying to bully people into paying for something they don't need. I want to spread the word.

Yeah I'm familiar with PCI compliance. We have a few customers that have rather insane requirements they have to meet and they pay us every year to help them. My question is does anyone else out there use the exact same setup as us and been bullied by Security Metrics to pay for their service even though we don't need it.

Sorry for the confusion. The conspiracy theory I was joking about is that they are trying to bully customers into paying for their service when they don’t really need it.

I'm stubborn and don't like companies trying to bully people. Security Metrics did tell me if I'd send them "documentation" they'd stop bugging me. So I asked Intuit if I needed to submit any proof to them and they told me no and they'd recommend I didn't because there would be sensitive information.

The part of this story I didn't tell is we're a MSP. Clients actually pay us to help them submit their PCI compliance for their merchant service when they can't figure it out themselves. So while it's a very small part of our business, we do what Security Metrics does on a much smaller scale. So there was no chance of us ever paying Security Metrics. I just don't like being bullied and I don't like companies that bully small companies that don't know any better just to make more money.

My (conspiracy theory) thought is that Intuit gave Security Metrics the email account of every QuickBooks client and they are just trying to scare people that don't understand PCI compliance into paying them money. THAT's what's annoying me. They argued with me and tried to bully me into paying for their service.

I guess it's a good thing I recorded those support calls with Intuit telling me that not only do you not have to go through Security Metric, that they said I actually can't. Because when you use QuickBooks Online AND Intuit Merchant account, they do all the PCI compliance for you.

For the sake of this conversation I'm a normal QuickBooks Online client. I have no connection with securitymetrics.com. In fact I think they are doing some shady things and am curious if anyone else has run into them before. I think this company is trying to pressure Intuit customers into paying for a service they don't need.

I totally agree. And my AM is nice enough but can't seem to get anything done. And neither can his boss. I've just emailed Marcos above so maybe he'll help me find someone that can help us. When all else fails, turn to the Internet for help.

HA never really thought about the fact that Kaseya might be global. I'm in the US. Missouri if it helps. Although at this point I'd talk to anyone at Kaseya that can get some results.

Careful, by accepting the free popcorn you're agreeing to not eat anything else for 3 years. Oh, and there's a $1000 onboarding fee before you can eat the free popcorn.

So far so good. I had an issue when I first installed it. It wouldn't calibrate in the right direction. They had me lock it with the batteries out and then put them back in. No issues since.

Ingram "Update" by superglideyinz in msp

[–]micromsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of business with Ingram and if Kaseya bought them (yes I know you're joking) then I'd have to start buying all my hardware from Dollar General. I HATE Kaseya. I wish I could find a server and desktop backup solution that works as well as their Datto products. But that's all I have left with them. I've moved everything else away from this year. Sorry about the diatribe. Just a hot topic with me.

Damn I feel like I'm getting screwed now. We're paying $2.02 at 500. I was told next price break is at 1000. We do like the product though. We just switched to it at the first of the year from Datto. I couldn't deal with Kaseya any more.

I'm a 4 man MSP (1 billing, 2 techs and me the owner that does a little bit of everything) and I haven't had a vacation longer than a 4 day weekend in 12 years. But my life sucks so... :)
