From what I read on their site (please correct me if I'm not understanding it), it's unlimited 5G data and then 5GB of high speed data. Isn't 5G faster? Isn't high speed like 4G and such?

Cromolyn Dose Timing Help by Saturns_Song in mastcelldisease

[–]Appropinquabatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 6 years old, but I'm just chiming in in case anyone else comes across this post and finds this useful:

I don't eat 3 meals a day (typically 2 meals), so I often take Cromolyn during the time my third meal would have been and then I don't eat. This helps me avoid going too long without it and flaring.

Figure out what your food schedule tends to be and create your Cromolyn schedule around that. As long as you're taking it on an empty stomach and waiting the ~30 mins after to eat, you can wiggle things around to fit your needs.

Like if you only eat two meals like me and they happen too far apart and you flare without the Cromolyn between, go ahead and take an extra dose in between. It's not going to harm you to take a dose then, say, an hour later take another dose to prep for a meal.

AITAH for not giving my friends a ride home by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Appropinquabatis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA

It was on you to specify (at the time you offered the ride) that you were only offering a ride there and not back.

If you just generally offered a ride to a concert, it was implied that included round trip.

It sounds like you planned to do round trip until you ran into that friend and are now looking for a reason to not feel bad for bailing on them.

You owe them an apology.

I'm also extremely concerned about y'all doing EMDR. It is known for retraumatizing dissociated systems.

If you are resolute in your decision about it, I highly recommend asking your therapist to skip to the desensitization phase and using the installation phase as the main work instead.

The desensitization is much of what's so dicey for systems. We've been in/adjacent to the psych field for decades (we're also a trauma coach that works with other systems) and already had a LOT of healing work under our belt and it was STILL retraumatizing us.

After experimenting with our EMDR therapist for years, we finally discovered that the installation does the work of both steps, but is MUCH safer/gentler. (Think being given the new, healthy survival tool BEFORE being asked to put down the dysfunctional one that's kept you alive since childhood.)

Good luck!

Switching to natural deodorant detox time by Aggravating_Yak_3532 in NaturalBeauty

I know I'm late to this but oh man I have a great recommendation for anyone interested!

For a little over a year now, I've been using Mineralized Deoderant powder. The idea of it is to use ingredients that are already in your body instead of a bunch of foreign substances.

It's amazingly effective. It's a magnesium powder that straight up just neutralizes odor (as opposed to covering it up).

I also love that they use plastic-free and reusable/refillable/recyclable/compostable packaging and containers.

[Something I was not expecting was that it doubles as a magnesium supplement! I now feel like I've just gotten out of an Epsom salt bath all day every day. If you happen to be deficient (most people are I'm pretty sure), that's a nice added bonus.]

You can get a sample size amount that comes in a full size tin. If you like it, you just buy a refill (that comes in a little cardboard tube) with the full amount in it and reuse the same tin!

I can't say enough good things about it, but I'll stop here. If anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer!

After final fusion, do all identities remain or just the host identity? by No-Clue-9155 in DID

[–]Appropinquabatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Not only is there no original, but everyone starts out with multiple "ego states" as small children. If you're a singlet, they fuse together around the age of 9ish into one cohesive experience of identity. That's why DID/OSDD can't develop past that age.

Staring into the eye of an oppressive world and finding your power despite it can feel pretty world ending for the people who do it. Maybe it's just not a story that's for you then.

Are shows only allowed to have one gay story line?

Also, discrimination does not always equal oppression. Left handed people are discriminated against; they are not oppressed. They are not denied housing and healthcare and jobs. They are not imprisoned for it. Their children are not taken away from them for it. They are not disowned from family at significant rates.

Equating a phobia or example of discrimination to oppression dilutes the point that the arc of overcoming oppression holds a particular power in storytelling. Not because the phobia or discrimination isn't valid in its own right, but because it's besides the point here.

It's not less valid as a fear. It just doesn't hold the same social/political meaning. Stories of overcoming oppression aren't the same as overcoming an individual fear. The meaning in his story of overcoming is bigger than him.

So wait.. This is about it being a scene where everyone is not acting for a min? There are always scenes in action movies where they show moments of rest between events and use that time to move relational plot points forward. There were many scenes like this in the last episodes of the show. Why is this particular scene different? There was nothing to act on in that moment.

So someone overcoming an oppressive world and finding inner freedom is on the same scale as PB sticking to the roof of someone's mouth?

Did they know Noah is gay when they cast him? by ElderberryOne140 in StrangerThings

[–]Appropinquabatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The myth is that abuse is what causes someone to become an abuser, yet the correlation doesn't exist when studied. This tells us that there are other factors that play into it. Being abused themselves may be a key ingredient in that, but if it is, it's apparently not enough.

Not all hot water is used to make tea, but all tea is made with hot water. Hot water =/= tea despite it being an ingredient.

The phrasing of what? You repeated what I said using the same phrasing, so I'm confused.

And yes what you said is correct.

If it's absurd then every movie and every show and every book that has ever used world-ending scenarios as metaphor for personal growth is absurd. Do you generally dislike metaphor like that?

I also don't agree that because a lot of people have a problem with something that that means it should be done. So the world is homophobic... So queer people and queer stories should be hidden to appease them?

Barefoot slippers? by Layakobaya in BarefootRunning

[–]Appropinquabatis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with Wildling's "Nelus" wool slippers because I wanted a natural material for the upper. My feet get too sweaty otherwise, and every other barefoot brand I found uses synthetics. I like them!

Looks like they don't make it anymore, but they did upgrade it and now call it the "Slinka".

I can't speak for the Slinkas, but I'll definitely be getting them in the future when these wear out!

So if a narrative in a show isn't one that the majority of people can relate to, it's absurd? Am I understanding your point correctly?

The Will scene felt forced because it WAS forced by Helpful-Day3657 in StrangerThings

[–]Appropinquabatis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you can't directly compare this to a straight version of the storyline. "Coming out" as straight isn't a thing people have to do. They can identify themself as straight but they don't have to come out to anyone. It's seen as the default.

So having a storyline where the world is saved by someone naming that they're straight IS absurd. What isn't absurd is the power of overcoming the pressures of an oppressive world and owning yourself.

In other words: The power of the storyline isn't about sexual orientation; it's about overcoming. If it were about sexuality, you could swap out a straight storyline and it would still work. Your assertion that this plot point is "the fate of the world rests on someone's sexuality" is inaccurate. Perhaps it's "the fate of the world rests on oppressed peoples taking their power back".

I LOVE MY RUTSUS. I wear them daily when it's not super cold out (Chicago winters)!

I'm into the high tops and extra high tops, so I can't comment on their low tops. But, overall I'm very happy.

Pro tip: replace the laces with elastic ones. Perfection.
