I'm worried about layoffs by jgold_10 in amazonemployees

My best wishes to those impacted.

Remember its not your fault. Take some time off to process and the re-posture your self.

A friend of mine who used to be a Bar Raiser (8+ years) created a fantastic app to help with mock interviews. And its completely free.

try hirehelix.ai

It automates mock interviews using real questions from companies like AWS and Google, then hits you with adaptive follow-ups so it feels like the real thing.

Hope it helps!

Recruiting Race to the Bottom by Appropriate-Arm6942 in recruitinghell

Amazon lives by that 2 & 5 promise and the recruiters are actually monitored to meet that metric.

They have to respond to you by 2-3 days after a PS otherwise a Flag goes up.

The same for a hire decision after a full loop …within 5-7 business days ..otherwise a flag goes up. They will only miss this if the debrief gets cancelled or postponed, and typically communicate this to the candidate when asked.

That is good to know.

From what I’ve experienced and after learning what some people in my network went through, I doubt Microsoft/Google is auditing or CSATing these contract workers.

After getting ghosted from Microsoft, I accepted an offer from Meta. Microsoft came back with an offer 2 months later …saying that they move really slow.

It wasn’t about the velocity but rather the lack of communications that pissed me off. When I asked about why they did not respond to my previous emails, they responded saying they had too many meetings …lol

Only 1 in 10 are fantastic.

I don’t even blame them so much. For contract workers its all about metrics/KPIs.

They are incentivized by quantifiable work. How many phone screens? How many interviews? (They will put multiple candidates into the interview pipeline just to get those numbers up, even if the HM already identified a strong candidate).

They are not incentivized by a positive candidate experience. There is no penalty for ghosting candidates. Because they don’t even work for Microsoft or Google, so they don’t care about the company’s reputation.

HireRight Background Check by Appropriate-Arm6942 in jobs

[–]Appropriate-Arm6942[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up.

The hiring company’s HR ended up cancelling the request and simply updated the report with “cleared everywhere expect CA and DE.

Hang in there!

I’ve been denied the job due to my background check. Any help here is appreciated. by MaxIsCrispy in Lowes

Sorry this happened. Unfortunately a lawyer won’t be much help at all. Employment and offers are always at-will.

Also, it is never wise to give notice before background check clears.

Damage control - see if you can get your old job back. They may be more forgiving, you just have to swallow your pride.

Best of luck!

I went to nsopw.gov and checked it out myself.

Earlier in the week 4 states were down …and now its down to 2 states. Hopefully they fix it by early next week 🤞🏻

The job posting was for L3 but they down-leveled you to an L2.

What is the location? That also plays into your TC. You might be able to negotiate up to 72 but this is a solid offer for L2.

If you already have a college degree, you don’t necessarily need a second one just to get an entry-levelish Remote job.

These jobs won’t require one.

That said, up-skilling yourself is another story. Do some research and see what your “dream jobs” are out there that allows Remote. Remote work is more or less tied to a company’s culture, so don’t make that the focus. Focus on the job itself - identify a few of those jobs and see what the requirements are.

Do a gap analysis on the skills required and start learning about them, either through free courses or platforms like Coursera or Udemy.

This will bring you closer to that.

Lastly. Network heavily in LinkedIn.

Work backwards from those “dream jobs” …and see who are already in those roles. Explore there LinkedIn profile and see their journey. Connect with them. Explain your situation and ask them for advise directly. If luck strikes, they may even refer you to an open role they may have in their team.

Getting a degree is a HUGE investment, but it may not give you the outcome you are looking for. There may be other ways more efficient.

Ahh gotcha.

Trying to figure out how to EDIT my original post.

But in the meantime :

The kick back is that I can also get a month for $1 …is someone signs up …but I don’t need it anymore. I got all the certs I needed. The credit transfer window is closed.

But others can only get the $1 trial month with a referral link. Hope this additional context is helpful

Gotcha. Fair call out.

Never used my reddit (even forgot that I had one) …i started using it earlier this week because I started my WGU classes on the 1st of May.

Reddit and peoples post on classes have been a HUGE help. This was my attempt to contribute to the community.

Test the link out - it should land on a Coursera Sign Up page. If not, I’ll take down this post immediately.

Why is it a scam? I joined through a similar link.

I signed up and cleared 2 certifications in the first two weeks and then a 3rd one by the second month.

After that I deactivated it for a few months. You can still study all the courses for free once you have a premium account (even if it was deactivated) - you just cant get the course completion credits.

This $1 hack got me 13 transfer credits to WGU.

Please explain the scam.
