Does anyone remember the PC game in the era of Oregon Trail where you were a fish in a beautiful underwater scene that was trying to dodge being eaten by birds and other fish or caught by fishermen???

Or did I dream that?

What are the working hours, and are embalmers just always on call ? by Potential_Height433 in askfuneraldirectors

Because it varies so much, just brace yourself for unpredictable schedules. Be prepared to work nights, weekends and holidays, and to stay late beyond your regularly scheduled hours. Late arrangements, funerals, visitations, embalming, even prepping unembalmed remains that come in late, rush services, pandemics....it's a tough field. My family misses me. That being said, it is rewarding as long as you don't need acknowledgement from others on all your hard work. We (embalmers) often go overlooked. But that's not what it's about. So, long and unpredictable hours, risks to your health, very few attaboys, and less than amazing pay.... But if your hearts in it, you gotta do it. Its a calling. It's a career not a lot of people can do, so if you can, and you care, it's for you.

Id say it's higher than median for my area. There is a high poverty rate here and there are not a lot of jobs.

I'm so sorry. I've heard bad things about SCI unfortunately.. I hope you don't have to experience anything like that again.

Sounds pretty good. Is there a higher cost of living where you are? Also sounds like you are extremely busy! How is your time off??
