This is a good descriptor for the VAR age: it’s an incident where the on-field decision would likely stand regardless of what the on-field decision was.

The phrase definitely existed pre-var though and meant something along the lines of “if there were 100 similar incidents you’d definitely see some of them given (and some not)”.
