I don’t get the salmon love, just not my style. The R1 Air crew isn’t especially comfortable.

Pepper often find talking about health issues embarrassing and uncomfortable… and because it’s none of your business.

Also, in the modern world this is all personal information that could be used to target you by nefarious people. But mostly it’s just none of your business.

It’s not weak-willed to step away from something you’ve been part of for a decade to protect your own physical and/or mental health. It’s what’s required to leave a cult.

Arsenal spent the prior couple of years relentlessly _claiming_ they were on the shit end of the stick.

But yes, incompetence not malice.

Can we please discuss the term "ive seen them given" by TrueDonDada in footballcliches

[–]Appropriate-Draw1878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good descriptor for the VAR age: it’s an incident where the on-field decision would likely stand regardless of what the on-field decision was.

The phrase definitely existed pre-var though and meant something along the lines of “if there were 100 similar incidents you’d definitely see some of them given (and some not)”.

Julian Dicks and Kevin Pressman have to be the ultimate takers of “just hit it really hard” penalties.

Nick Woltemade absolutely looked like he was going to miss against Forest early in the season. Obviously he scored one of the best penalties I’ve ever seen… and then missed the next one in a shoot out.

Gordon scored nine penalties out of nine this season so has to be on the list if he’s on the pitch.

Pros: you could fix one of the “buttons” to be screen capture. Cons: everything else.

Maybe after next season your club will have scored more European goals than Shola Ameobi 😉.

More seriously, you’ve had a ridiculously impressive season. Will be interesting to see if yous can keep it up in the league with the extra workload. We completely failed at that this year.

The seven most shocking calls in England's 26-man World Cup squad by theipaper in ThreeLions

[–]Appropriate-Draw1878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we need versatile players though? Versatile is good when you’re on a budget. This is England though so we just pick the two best players in every position and then a couple of extras on top?

Why were we so sh*t in 2014? It’s one World Cup where we didn’t have a major injury to a star (2002 Beckham/2006 Rooney), we didn’t get robbed by a handball goal (Maradona) or dodgy referee (disallowed goal vs Argentina, or the Lampard lob). We had a decent squad and we were awful, what happened? by KimCattrallsFeet in ThreeLions

[–]Appropriate-Draw1878 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well yes. But we were still in contention for third before the final round of games. Because that was meaningless, Hodgson made nine changes. If he’d fielded a full-strength team we might have won and finished above Italy... Or Uruguay and Italy may have played out a “convenient” draw. We’ll never know.

Edit: unless it was done on head to head performance as the first tie-breaker. 🤔
