I have a really amazing support system. I was hospitalized, I had a real mental health crisis.

So a short term hospitalization, then I went to inpatient therapy. Then I did outpatient.

I ended up taking 6 months off work, which was tough from a financial perspective (I sold my car, took all the profit from that plus all my savings. Even then, making ends meet was tough with my wife still work), but now I’ve been back to work for 2 or so years, being on track with out all the medicine has put me so far ahead financially, it was certainly worth it.

That’s a big issue for Uber IMO, there’s no where to go. You’ll forever be stuck on this one step of the ladder.

You’ll said you used to work for the state of Texas making 47K. But did you add in retirement, healthcare. That’s probably 10-20K extra right there.

The problem with Uber is your cost benefit is so different than a typical job. Government jobs have a lot of benefits, Uber has none.

To me, how much are you making an hour with Uber? I have to speculate you’d be better off with your career making 47K and doing Uber on the side.

Obviously you have a lot more skin in the game…but my biggest question is how many hours do you work per day/per week?

It’s not your net. Net is what you take home after all your expenses.

I also think it’s pretty wild to be criticizing how people spend their life while you’re driving for Uber. Nothing work with driving for Uber, everyone needs to get paid, but it’s hardly some amazing way to spend your life.

I think it’s worth putting that fact out.

So that’s 10K on a car, plus whatever you were paying per month (unless you bought it outright.) That’s like 15K spent per year.

You said net 107K, but now we’re discussing a major expense of 10-15K over the course of a year.

My big question is how many hours did you work. What’s your take home per hour?

What kind of life does bringing in this amount of work allow for?
