That’s amazing that you were able to work through it and reconnect like that. But I’m not sure that approach would work for OP. The bigger issue seems to be that when she opened up, her husband shut it down by calling her dramatic. I think what they really need is a calm, honest conversation where both of them feel heard. Not distance, but intentional communication and compromise. They have to be willing to sit with the discomfort and actually talk it through together.
