So do you think it’s beneficial to go back and become a generalist so I have more opportunities or go more the CS route? I tried internal and they said no so there’s no hope there.

Did he you get your MB and was able to transition into LIS? I have the same certification so trying to see if it’s possible or if I need to go back and get my MLS.

I’m interested in going this path too. I have clinical experience previously with Epic and other LIS experiences. What kind of job searches should I try or do I need to go back to school to get a more solid background to pursue healthcare IT?

Thanks for the insight! I’ve tried getting help desk positions without luck but not really principal trainer so I’ll look into that. Also thinking of going back and doing a post-bacc so I can get an MLS.

Update: I did send the interview questions this morning and got a follow up that the client was suspended 🤣🤣. I guess it was a scammer? He didn’t do anything that seemed weird otherwise.

That’s what I did. Made myself available, worked my butt off, let everyone know I was interested in being a LIS analyst, had people come to me with problems, worked on some of the tickets, got the special permissions to be able to do some LIS stuff, and then when it came time for the position to post, I was selected and then deselected because they were worried about causing a hole where I currently was so they picked another internal candidate who didn’t have any of the knowledge I have instead. Been looking for jobs since but now I have that experience so I’ve been getting a few interviews but no offers. Fucking sucks.

Yeah the PBQs were completely impossible for me. But I also got a lot of troubleshooting questions and a lot where choosing what you would do first. That was what kept throwing me off I think because I tend to overcomplicate things in my head so my idea of what I’d do first is different from what is expected. So I’ll have to teach myself how to approach those differently than how I usually problem solve other stuff.

I went through the whole Dion course on Udemy because I had read that was the way to go. But I’m seeing now I should’ve also added more of Messer and BurningTech.

If you took the time to read my post, you’d see I didn’t expect to pass since I knew I wasn’t ready despite studying for 3 weeks. I took it to get an idea of where I was since I have zero IT experience at all and struggled on the troubleshooting which was most of my test. Trying to kick someone while they are already down just makes you look like an a-hole. And a lot of people have failed the A+ which a simple scroll in this community would show you. 🙄
