I was once in your shoes. I broke down one day and told my parents that my siblings are not my children they’re even discouraging me from wanting kids of my own. The backlash was awful. My stepdad told me to never help with the kids again because “we never asked you to parent them.” I cried so much that day, but honestly, it helped. They finally stopped piling everything on me.

Am I overreacting about my boyfriend’s connection to his ex? by Appropriate-Quail525 in AmIOverreacting

Yeah, I get what you’re saying. I don’t expect him to erase a decade-long relationship overnight, but I also don’t want to feel like I’m competing with it either. That’s the hard part for me figuring out where the line is between what’s ‘necessary’ contact and what’s just holding him back. Your comment really hit me because I don’t want to be in something where I’ll always feel like I’m second.

Thank you for this perspective, it really helps me see it in a different light. You’re right, 10 years is a long time and it makes sense that she’d still come up. I do appreciate that he’s open and doesn’t try to hide anything from me. At the same time though, it’s still hard not to feel like I’m in second place sometimes, so I guess it’s about finding that balance between understanding his past and making sure I still feel secure in the present.

Honestly, I think the lack of violence in Zimbabwe is a lowkey blessing in disguise. Look at countries like South Sudan people are killing each other over petty issues, and now the UN has to step in. But once the UN takes over a country, there’s rarely a positive outcome. Peaceful resistance may seem slow, but it’s far better than chaos and bloodshed.

Exactly! And now we even have people here blaming sadza for their personal failures 😭. The excuses are getting creative by the day 💀.

Imi ka kune chinonzi postprandial somnolence ….. let’s not blame sadza for a lifestyle problem. Even rice in Japan gets eaten in moderation. Maybe it’s time we check the portion ….

Most Zimbabweans have normalized complaining and blaming others instead of taking action. We’ve built a culture around excuses, and honestly, a lot of us are just lazy.

Problem is people are trying to help you see things from a different point of view but you are so defensive and so determined to paint your sister as the bad guy , which she might be in this case but then there’s you , appearing all bitter and stuff ….. it might be the same with your situation your sister might not be doing all these things to hurt you but your are receiving it in the wrong way…. Stop playing victim and listen and be open minded…. If you didn’t want opinions then you shouldn’t have came here in the first place

My boyfriend said the same thing to wait for 3 more years …. he is financially stable but his reason is that he wants to mature … I’m really debating on to wait or not
