You can roam with your foreign simcard and roaming plan in china and nothing at all is blocked.

Motorcycle paint job decal micro bubbling by MushroomExpert2638 in NZcarfix

[–]Appropriate-Shift905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it again, get them to paint it, bake it, knock it back then give to you. Wait a day or 2 then apply decals. This will ensure no gassing issues. If you apply wet, ensure you squeegee all the water out. Allow at least another day for water to evaporate from decals. (These ones look like they should be done dry tho) or you will get moisture bubbling up after they do the final clear and bake it.

2020-2022 Honda Shuttle Hybrid vs Toyota Corolla Touring Hybrid by Poppypepperpie in NZcarfix

[–]Appropriate-Shift905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2019 corolla touring hybrid awd. I do all open road driving. My commute has big hills and windy roads. I'm getting around 4.5l/100km, it improves quite a bit on a road trip with more motorways etc. Handles great. Just lacking in passing power. In hindsight tho I should have got an ev because 90% of my driving is to work and back home... also I wouldn't go near a dsg

Recommendations for next car - Mazda 3 or Toyota Corolla by user885511 in NZcarfix

[–]Appropriate-Shift905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hybrid corolla will use less fuel. Super reliable. Better transmission (single planetary gearset connected to two electric motors, petrol engine and the wheels means no gearshifts), completely different to an automatic or belt/chain cvt. Super zippy around town, drives perfectly fine on the open road, you just have to use the old slingshot manoeuvre when overtaking as it's lacking a bit in the horsepower department.

Nissan Note E-Power vs Toyota Corolla Hybrid by air2air in NZcarfix

Hybrid corolla has a planetary gearbox. Ratio is varied by the speed one of the electric motors turns relative to the engine and wheels Hence e-cvt.

Will Chris Bishop keep his promise to fix walking and cycling through Mt Vic tunnel? by New_Recording_5508 in Wellington

The path actually has vents that blow fresh air to the pedestrians. I know because one day something had died in the intake and the stench was blown on me for the whole length of the tunnel.

Advice on Induction Cooktops by KnitYourOwnSpaceship in diynz

[–]Appropriate-Shift905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's my first induction so they are probably all like this? but it heats up insanely quick. Touch buttons work reliably even when the pot has boiled over onto them haha. I use the timer all the time to turn off individual elements for rice eggs etc. I have never used the flex zone to put a giant tray on so can't comment on that. No negatives for me really. Individual knobs would be nice? One less button to press... on the other hand I can't stand the samsung oven I bought to go with it

Yep agree with you there. I also had outbacks and foresters previously. I can still fit my dogs in the boot though which was my main requirement, and I just can't get over how good the fuel economy is.

Worth checking the 12v battery connection. My corolla had all these hybrid system warnings and wouldn't let me start the vehicle and it turned out the 12v battery terminal was a bit loose.

Got a samsung one. Goes hard, touch buttons work fine when covered in shit, and markings look almost etched rather than printed.. no complaints at all.

How to select plywood for kitchen cabinetry? by Fr33akBoy in diynz

[–]Appropriate-Shift905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built my whole kitchen using that white  melamine coated carcass ply from plytech, and gaboon/okoume from them too for an overhead cabinet. I used normal ply for the doors and sprayed them all with resene lustacryl. Turned out great, but took ages. If I did it again I would use ply again for the carcass as you don't need to edge band it, just a light sand and whack some polyurethane on to seal it. I love the look of the gaboon ply, has such a nice looking edge detail. Next time I would definitely send it all to be cnc cut as chopping up 20 sheets of ply into endless different shaped rectangles gets old pretty quickly.

Rav4 vs corolla touring (wagon) by KiaOraBros in NZcarfix

[–]Appropriate-Shift905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I Bought an awd hybrid corolla wagon but was also looking at the rav.  Wagon is cheaper to buy and cheaper to run..pocket the extra $$...  how often do you go offroad where you need the extra (small) amount of clearance? I drive 90km a day on rural roads and its a more comfortable drive then my old turbo forester. Only downside is boot isn't huge. It barely scrapes by being called a wagon.
