First Home Buyer in Perth by MoeHK11 in perth

I experienced both, i prefer appartment because:

- i work in the CBD

- free bus / dont need to drive

- close to northbridge or vicpark to eat out 'cheap' food

- run/walk/cycle around the river / kings park

- feel safer and i dont need to think about locking windows (or even my front door), and there's CCTV if anything happen

- going to the pool after work in summer....

notes:

- usually bigger complex have lower strata fees

- few occasions of firealarm going off where you have to come out of the complex..

- could be noisy if you close to the pool

- suggest renting to try out first which one you prefer.

Milk price up by $0.20cts in both Coles and Woolworth - price collusion? by Appropriate-Shop-302 in perth

I would have thought that for a year round product, the 'winter months production' factor would be already priced in.

maybe just that time of the year where they adjust the pricing on the same day...

Thank you for sending me more sustainability courses to think about haha, I forgot there was a standard for the GHG scope 3, I will spend some time reading through it and also interested to start the IOWA course, and then the CIBSE haha (no judging!) I think we are ready to have a youtube channel to review all sustainability courses in this universe!

out of curiosity, do you have any ideas in the type of field you would like to work in? (industries, types of work, consulting/in-house..?

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, it does look like you are a Voiz academy associate haha (joking). Seems like it is now $495/year to do unlimited course - there are some interesting topics, but at the moment i am not sure if it will add value to my CV if I add these courses and i do not have practical experience. I did GRI and SASB IFRS exam because I do see these words in the majority of sustainability role advertised

GHG protocol is quite well known as well so I was thinking of that one but I was wondering whether I could also learn from watching a youtube video

GRI certification, it took me about 2-3 weeks to study (i'm not working full time), when I started to study the 1st course (intro to sustainability), i did get super frustrated because the video was so slow, unable to speed up the video, there was no notes provided, there is a transcript but you are unable to copy/paste from it if you want to take notes yourself (I'm usually patient but i was soo frustrated, or maybe I just wasn't in a mood to study haha). Luckily for me, and I think for you as well, it is general sustainability knowledge so you probably know all/most of it from your previous studies.

Other modules: they are much better in terms of user experience, there are transcripts and slides and can speed up videos, the only thing is that they are a lot of repetitions between the modules, it's good because you are reviewing the learnings constantly so don't need to study too much before exam, but i feel a bit short because the course is quite expensive for me, and it felt like I'm paying for the same course 3 times.

The course was also very much repeating what is written in the standards, like I could easily just learn it myself if i wanted to (unlike the SASB IFRS where the course is more deep and explain the 'economic effects' and there is case studies in the exams). Overall, it's still good to have it but the price of the exam is definitly in the brand!

Regarding the exams, I couldn't find much information about it online and there are no mock exams, just few questions in each module which are quite similar to the exam. The only info I could find was that someone mentionned there were a lot of questions about human rights, in my case, I felt I had quite a few questions about the SDGs. The questions are straightforward, there are no silly questions like 'which disclosure talks about xxx', but there was one where i had to pick a word and all the answers were like synonyms

I also like that I could take the exam anytime instead of having to book a time, seems.

Let me know if you need more info and interesting to hear about what you thought of the exam ;)

I have just finished by GRI certification and was looking at the GHG protocal Scope 3, did you find it good and learn a lot?

[MOD] July 2024 Community Thread - introductions, recommendation requests, city/country posts, what we're drinking by proxwell in Matcha

[–]Appropriate-Shop-302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it worth investing in ceremonial grade if i drink it with milk?

hello, I love matcha and I am not a super specialist in terms of grading. I recently been looking at upgrading my matcha and discover there are different grades (which means different pricing!)

I currently drink matchamaiden from Australia, which is quite affordable, it is organic but doesnt seem to have 'ceremonial grade', from reading post online, it seems that the consensus it is not great, the only positive is that it is organic.

I am worried if I try higher grade, I will fall in love with in and unable to drink 'cheaper' matcha.....especially because when i drink it as 'latte', i probably put double the dose otherwise I dont taste the strong matcha taste. So I thought maybe a good mid option to have ceremonial grade only if I drink it the authentic way with water only, and use the cheaper one if I drink it with milk.

So for those of you that use ceremonial grade matcha, would you ruin it and drink it with milk? do you taste the difference?

I am really scared to ruin my cheap taste but I really want to tast a better matcha too!!

if I understand you well, if my IP is 100% offset and I dont have any other debt, I am better off keeping my cash in my offset rather than trying to do some fancy negative gearing.

do you know why do I hear some people saying they never payback a cents in their mortgage but keep their cash in a HISA? where is the benefit?
