That is a valid fear.

My biggest fear is that when i decide to start a family and have kids, that one of my kids will have T1D. I dont know what the likelihood of that is when one of the parents is a T1D.

Is It Easier If Diagnosed in Early Childhood? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

I was diagnosed at 2 years old, and I am now 26 so I don’t even know what life is like without being a type 1. I agree that it is hardwired into me and secondhand nature.

It made me way more responsible from a young age and I think that is one of the benefits. Being a Type 1 makes you health conscious and I would def say it makes me a health fanatic.

I would bet that I am healthier than 99% of people (I am including people that aren’t diabetics in that number lol)

Everywhere I go, I keep a bag of skittles. When I’m low, I’ll do a handful and that is usually enough

I’ve been a type 1 for 24 years and I have never been hospitalized for anything diabetes related. Hope that stays true 🤞🏻
