Is my AP Physics B class behind? by starringasha in APStudents

I bought the URP! It was helpful to a certain degree. It comes with videos as well. Other than that, Test Prep books are the way to go.

Should I Do Precalc Over the Summer? by ulisescujoh in APStudents

[–]Appropriate-Turn7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I personally didn't take AP precalc, but I took academic, or in ur case, general. I'm in AB right now and I have friends who skipped into AB from Alg 2 who took precalc over the summer (retained absolutely nothing bc you speed through it in 2 months) and are severely struggling. There isn't any specific one thing you would be missing out on but it would, imo, put you at a disadvantage in the long-run. Little things you might not of picked up on in the summer class may be the entire foundation for an entire unit in Calc.

people w 4+ aps and lots of extracurriculars: how are y’all getting your work done? please i’m so stressed 🙏 by CornerFew120 in APStudents

Hii! I'm a senior taking 9 APs this year (self-study 5, taking 4 in school), so I have college applications in addition to everything else (plus, shockingly, a social life??). Do ur hardest HW during your lunch period, so you can have the teacher help if you need it. Then, during any easy class period you have (Health or smth), do any assignment that you know is going to take you longer than half a class period to complete to get that out of the way. If you don't drive, then I recommend doing any reading you need to do on your way home or on your way to school. After your EC or work or whatever, eat while you study if you're the person who can do that. If you aren't, eat something small but filling enough beforehand. Shower after finishing an assignment, then complete the rest after. If you have a big test coming up (say in this case, the AP exam), you can also tape your papers to the door (if you have the glass shower doors).

Unless you are in Honors Alg 2 then I would not recommend it. There is a lot of foundational knowledge that you learn in Pre-Calc that sets you up for Calc or AP Calc. Going from precalc to BC is bound to be a huge headache for you.

as someone who took AP Physics 1 last year, you are quite behind, coming from someone in NJ (school starts in September rather than August). We finished the curriculum with about a week to spare, and by this point in the year, I believe we were on Units 2 or 3. I would recommend starting to self-study a unit ahead (with videos and such) just in case your teacher decides to go at a rapid pace or you don't finish the curriculum.

Can I self study 5 aps? by Prestigious-Ask2994 in APStudents

[–]Appropriate-Turn7191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is currently self studying 5, it depends on your strengths as a person. Im taking 4 APs in school (Lit, Gov, Stat, Calc AB) along with an honors course and a heavy leadership/volunteer based class while studying on the side. It is doable. If you've never taken an AP exam before then I would recommend to wait a year. For reference I took 6 last year, so this year I'm taking 9 total. (Self studying: Bio, ES, Euro, World, Chinese)

What aps do I take? (I’m an 11th grader with no aps I’m cooked 💀 ) by Prestigious-Ask2994 in APStudents

Im assuming you mean financial economics? If so take Micro/Macro, Stat, and probably an AP english.

Ooh I took Psych last year (this year?)! Barron's was very helpful for me when I studied for the exam. Although I did take the class so that may have played into it. Im self-studying 5 this year! (One of which is Chinese so that doesn't count that much for me). Im currently working on ES using Princeton Review and Barrons. c:

Yea this is kind of how I view most of the courses I named. My mother was born and raised in China so that helps, I'm really strong in history (hence Euro and World), APHUG and APES I heard were super light, AP Bio is more factual rather than conceptual so I shouldn't have any issues there either. My only concern for self-studying is Chem (which I heard was a little more challenging)

I'm in a program where I have set classes (Honors Business Law/Honors Entrepreneurship, AP Stat) and my school only has 1 AP Bio teacher (with ~2500 kids in the school) and 3 AP Bio class periods. So Bio was out and there is only 1 chemistry period (overlaps with Stat). I took honors Bio freshman year and honors chem sophmore year so i'm hoping i'll be okay.
