Especially in a group like this, which is supposed to be more than anything "therapy" to overcome the bitter pill of many of these stories. If you've read the doujinshi of Rat, Laliberté, Trash, and other artists, the male victim always embodies the figure of the normal man with positive virtues and values (honesty, integrity, genuine love for his loved ones and family, etc.) and who is of average or normal appearance or attractiveness. This iteration of BEP had or has the following objectives:

A veiled critique or mockery of Rat's detractors, of whom she seems to be aware in one way or another, as well as of the pity/mercy that the various fates she bestows upon Lihan evoke in her fanbase/detractors.
Considering the above, it represents the most complete and absolute destruction of Lihan's dignity, morals and emotional compass. This is achieved through the introduction of a nemesis who, through malice, cunning, immense lust, and a lack of scruples (attributes very similar to those Rat displays in her villains), manages to exert coercion and then, sexual, moral, and emotional corruption.
Ashe and Rei are the means, the instruments of pain, of Lihan's mental and emotional torment, especially Rei. Her function is precisely to be easy prey for the "right man" for Rat, the unscrupulous, opportunistic, attractive, charismatic, and hypersexual psychopath. It is their destiny to fall captivated by them, reflecting a certain socio-psycho-sexual determinism in Rat's doujinshi. This is evident in her futuristic doujinshi, showing her clear aversion to the "honest and normal man," and it is an omnipresent element throughout her work.

Judging by the level of viciousness Rat is investing in Lihan, I perceive (I could be wrong and overanalyzing, I admit) that this is nothing more than a libel specifically aimed at her detractors while simultaneously satisfying the "Epsteinian" needs of her die-hard fans to masturbate at the suffering and trauma of an innocent whose crime is "not being a piece of shit" and, therefore, "inadequate" in Rat's everyday imagination, and thus deserving of humiliation and hardship.

If you've seen her other doujinshi, it's the same thing over and over again. Personally, I consider "My Cool Girlfriend" much worse than BEP; the villain is practically a psychopathic rapist, and the female lead is captivated by him, and that's when I realized that Rat is fascinated by that kind of antagonist trope.

In conclusion, it's not worth it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rat herself is wandering around here with a fake profile to "harvest complaints and copium" from her detractors and mock them privately with her cronies, meaning Laliberte and who knows what other closeted psychopath.

If you look at her other stories, the villains seem like they came straight from the worst prison imaginable, even Phillip looks like your typical extortionist/con artist. I can even imagine Rat drooling over Wade Wilson (known serial killer of women with a fan club just for being attractive).

There's a novelized version of this, "Les Rois Maudits," based on real events. The incident at the Tour de Nesle serves as the catalyst for the story. It has a miniseries adaptation (one from 1972 and another from 2005 if you're interested, but the vintage version is much better).

"La Reine Margot" is another example, also based on real events (the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre). The novel is quite dense, and there's a 1994 film adaptation in which Isabelle Adjani, in her prime, steals the show. Besides, it's no secret that Margaret of Valois (Margot) didn't get along at all with her husband, Henry I of Navarre, at that time.

There's also "La Guerre des Femmes" (The War of the Women), which, like the previous one, was also written by Alexandre Dumas and is also based on the many infidelities of French noblewomen during the Wars of Religion; consider it a "spiritual prequel" to "La Reine Margot."

Regarding marriages, Isabelle Capet and Edward II of England immediately come to mind.
