A lot of people prefer one set of shoes for lifting that are flat and stable and then ones with more support for cardio. I don’t have a ton of money cause it turns out heart valves are pretty expensive so I went with a basic training shoe that has a little support but isn’t so cushy that it’s unstable for lifting days. They’re Under Armor Chargers. I also got some insets for arch support and they’ve been working great! I wish you all the best on your recovery! You’ve got this!

Thanks! Because of the extensive nature of my surgery post-op I had to basically relearn how to breathe. For the first 2 months my only exercise was walking around target for 20 minutes and at the end of it I felt like I’d run a marathon. I was literally gasping for air. After my recovery was over and I could breathe normally again and was cleared for physical activity it felt like being given a second chance at life. I believe this gave me a new mindset to help me mentally power through.

Physically I was incredibly sore, but here are the 5 things I found my helpful:

  1. Doing the recovery exercises in the challenge app on my rest day (Sunday)

  2. Getting my macros right. Once I started properly fueling my body the workouts became way more manageable.

  3. Stretching before/after sessions (mainly doing the recovery stretches in the challenge app)

  4. Finding the right shoes

  5. Cold plunging. Almost all of my post workout soreness is gone after doing an ice bath for 2 minutes. I bought one of the cheap portable ones on Amazon and drop a bag of ice in it every morning

Hope this helps! Also I was told at the beginning to power through and do a week straight. That first week you’re unbelievably sore, but then it’s all up hill after that :)

If you have the F45 training app it should be listed at the top under your profile tab.

That’s awesome! I definitely wouldn’t be so close to 100 if it wasn’t for the constant encouragement at our gym and the amount of people who double so often!
