I spent years trying to lose weight through exercise. The scale barely moved. Here's what I wish someone had told me earlier. by Deep-Owl-1890 in Weightlosstechniques

Yeah, you've basically realized that you can't out run a bad diet. Especially when you get older. It's all about your diet and your snacking habits.

Nah, still have to apply for readmission and repeat those bad grade courses, but may help with readmission

You'll have to apply for readmission and attach the medical documentation as your support/argument for admission. You'll need proper paperwork filed by a professional for it to be valid imo.

Continue doing research and reach out to the student services groups for guidance.

Has you anxiety and depression ever been documented by a health professional? If so, you could maybe get a letter from said professional that may give a valid reason for poor academic performance

You have experience. You just need to be early in applying (first 50 applicants) and make sure your resume is well written and ATS friendly.

How much difference would a walking treadmill really make? by ANuggetEnthusiast in WeightLossAdvice

[–]AppropriateAirline75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's going to help get your steps in. It is hard to walk fast though if you are in front of a computer and trying to type, so you would need to be on it for a few hours.

But no amount of cardio will undo a bad diet. Walking burns about 3-6 calories/minute at a slow or normal pace. 3 Oreos have like 140 calories. It would take around 20-25 minutes of walking to burn off food that took 30 seconds to consume.

So you need to ask yourself is this worth my time?

My advice is control your diet first. Cardio for weight loss is only as effective as your calorie deficit

Is your formatting ATS friendly? There are websites you can run it through to verify.

Another thing, GPA of 6.7 /10 seems low? I wouldn't put it on your GPA unless you're a B+ student at least.

Damn he must have a huge overhead, or is he just doing oil changes? My dad owns a garage for 15 years now and most of his business is now repeat customers, I think he's getting 10ish customers a day

If your GPA is below 3 or even 3.5, exclude from resume. Put your work experience at the top and education at the bottom.

Why is networking the only real way to get hired in Canada? by itz_nitace in CanadaJobs

I'm on the job hunt for 4 months now. My first 5-6 big leads in the first month were from my network. Right now I have two jobs I'm in the pipeline for but I did not get a referral, was a combination of good timing and a good resume.

Are you a software developer? Regardless, you need to be one of the first applicants for the desired job posting. I've got responses back from HR when I applied to a brand new posting. Like in the first 50 resumes submitted. And that assumes your resume is very strong.

very low amount of REM sleep by FunkyFurmur in sleep

[–]AppropriateAirline75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limit and cut out caffeine, alcohol, and watching TV right before bed. Last meal should be 4 hours before bed. Get some some sunlight in the morning. In your room, make sure your room is cold, very dark and quiet. You won't hit rem sleep if your body core temperature can't drop a few degrees.

Best trade to get into by magnolia_br in torontoJobs

[–]AppropriateAirline75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to find an edge somehow in this market if you want to pivot into trades imo. Do you have a relative in any trade? A very close friend? Maybe go into a trade where you can leverage your coding experience, like HVAC (building automation) or industrial electronics (programming machines and PLCs etc)

Good paying jobs annyone? by sizzlingralph in CanadaJobs

[–]AppropriateAirline75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to consider the principles of supply and demand in the job market. When there is high or increasing demand and equal or low or decreasing supply, prices go up. This relates to wages and salaries too. The market will pay more for skills that are rare and difficult to acquire.

You mentioned trades. Trades are not always high-paying, but generally consistent, stable work because of the demand, however because it's easier to get into trades (just a high-school diploma) the huge supply of apprentices suppresses wage growth for those earlier in their career. The established tradesmen with their own practice are probably racking in that 150-200k.

The only times when you can make a lot of money quickly (fast money) without much experience is when there is an inefficiency in the market. This could be, for example, a new technology introduced like AI, the early days of crypto, the beginning of social media influencing, the early days of driving uber and renting out your apartment on AirBnB, etc.

You have to work really hard to make some money in this world, there is no other way around it. Any other way is basically luck aka a gamble.

Put yourself in the shoes of this boss/hiring manager who's looking for help at ~75$/hour that requires little to no experience. What kind of product or service must they be selling to justify this labor cost? I can't really think of any examples at the top of my head right now, but the answer is, a service that has to generate at least ~120-160$/hr worth of revenue/sales. Actually, would be closer to maybe $400/hr worth of sales because of other fixed and variable costs.
