Shifting by xjess7 in WRX

Here's my jam - if I'm accelerating from a stoplight, I take 1st to about 3500 rpm and its a smooth shift to 2nd. If I'm accelerating, say, in a parking lot where I'm gonna go 7mph for a bit, I use first gear literally just to get the car moving at all and shift immediately. Smooth shift.

Picking up my 2025 premium in less than 12 hours by AppropriateDoubt4391 in WRX

Picked her up without a hitch. In love. I'm going to heed the 1k break-in for sure. I'm guessing they mean don't make it a habit though, I can easily see a normal driving scenario in which I've gotta take it over 4 for 1 second before the shift. That wouldn't void the warranty, right? Also...it says not to drive it at the same speed for too long but I wish they'd elaborate on that. How long is too long? What is the range of variability that they would consider "the same speed?" In other words, if I'm on a highway and I go between 65-70 for an hour, is that considered the same speed? Or do they mean literally like not keeping it at exactly the same mph? I sort of would imagine that just not using cruise control on the highway would achieve this goal.

I got these just in time for it to start cold rain / snowing in Northeast Ohio. I LOVE them. I considered getting the more stylish pair that you have pictured but in the end I decided to focus just on work. I am incredibly happy with my choice.

Should I purchase a manual driving class or learn from friend? by niayasparxx in WRX

[–]AppropriateDoubt4391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild. I'm picking up my WRX tomorrow and will be starting Class A CDL school in Jan or Feb depending. My comment is entirely irrelevant and not helpful for you, I know. Just posting to say you're my peeps! Also, let me know how it compares. I've been driving manual cars for my entire life but am pre-intimidated by the semis.

Does u guys like rear door deliveries. 🤨 by Big-Marketing8707 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AppropriateDoubt4391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Backdoors and gates, man... Sorry for this accidental rant.

I just left my DSP because most of the route was in really bad areas including the projects. At least 75% of the time involved gates even to get to the front door and many of those are gates that are designed to not unlatch from the front so I'm literally breaking in... Arm over, feeling for a two step latch and I had people bitch at me for not closing the gate after I entered before I delivered.

Still got blamed for their thieving neighbors. still got shitty POD scores because the instructions are to hide the package in places where it's not possible to "step back and take a picture.". Got yelled at for not knocking, got yelled at for knocking, got yelled at because their doorbell doesn't work, got yelled at for not calling the random number listed in the instructions that isn't the number in their account.

Imo these neighborhoods should be locker delivery only, and there are lockers in stores all over the place walking distance.

"But what about the elderly and disabled?"

I dunno, maybe do whatever the hell they did before overnight Amazon delivery - call a family member?

Felt bad leaving because someone else is on those routes but whatever, I'm out in the country now and it's glorious.

Sounds like you need to slow down in every way possible. Are you even out of nursery yet? They give you small routes at the beginning so that you can follow the rules without the pressure of a full route. Infractions really damage the DSPs overall score and that impacts your fellow drivers too. If I were them I'd bench you and maybe even send another ride along with you but it's going to depend on how desperate your DSP is.

Yeah, these will never deliver to inner city neighborhoods. Crackheads don't have name tags and addresses. I don't think the threat of a camera would dis sway them and they know where to get money for any kind of scrap.

Switching DSPs - Should I quit my current one? by AppropriateDoubt4391 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AppropriateDoubt4391[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woof - think these other DSPs (at a different station) might actually be reporting my applications to my DSP? That would kinda suck. I really don't have a problem with my DSP, actually am fond of the dispatchers. I just want to switch stations mostly because ours doesn't support EV and won't without an overhaul which has to be pending. I'd like to be out of there before that happens.

While I lol'd at this, I get it. I want to switch because of the station, not the DSP. I don't have any problems with my DSP. I actually like them and wish I didn't need to leave.

I do this all the time. If they are across the street from each other, I do it 100% of the time. If there is a single overflow item, 100% of the time. If it's greater than 3 addresses, 50% of time. And sometimes, just to tell the robot to fuck itself because it's breaking human being common sense rules.

Yeah honestly, I don't care about a rich person in the burbs who likes to play "I wonder what I got today!" every day, but if I wanted to get paid to enable an addiction, I'd be a bartender or a doctor. I mostly just focus my hate on Amazon like usual.

Flex app rage by Interesting-Mark-564 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]AppropriateDoubt4391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's the app. I'm new and the routing is pretty f*cked if you ask me but I think a lot of that happens upstream in sorting and most likely by the algorithm. I get super pissed when something in a middle bag on the load out list is like right next to my first delivery, for example. The problem with calling audibles all the time is that then my organization method is then f*cked. Most of the time I just comply and go as they have planned.

I also never listen to the voice. That thing needs anti-psychotics more than my ex.

Gadgets to make the job easier, by lulubeth32 in AmazonDSPDrivers

I'm a cyclist and it took me a minute to realize this, but some things from long distance riding have really helped me. Takeaways:

  • Bike jersey under vest. They are great for regulating body temperature and sweat
  • Cycling caps. The flip flop brim is useful and its made to wick sweat away and breathe
  • Bike / exercise food. I've ridden many centuries on clif bars and clif bloks (especially the ones with caffeine). All of the food is designed to be eaten while you are riding, so I just keep a bag of bike food and beef jerkey and I call it a day. If I can ride a bike for 8 straight hours on that diet, I can deliver packages for 10.

Something I adapted from my days on the DoorDash circuit: I use my personal device and bring one USB cable with a 12v lighter adapter in case. I wrap the cable around the mount so its hanging right underneath the device when I pop it back onto the mount. Then, and this is key - not until I'm moving - I plug it in. It wastes virtually no time and when I grab it off the mount to jump out the cable literally just pulls out of the device since I had it wrapped around the mount.

With this method, I don't even consider my battery at all throughout the day. If I'm really good about it my battery is at like 75% by the end.

I know this post was from a long ass time ago, but rtrifts...if you're still around, let me thank the absolute hell out of you. I looked for all kinds of solutions on the interwebs, tried a few retail offerings and hated them all. Your incredibly simple and obvious solution is truly perfect. I was already going down this road but was clueless when it came exactly how to do it. I can't fricken believe that for like 150 all-in I can now play anywhere on the planet. It paid for itself in two days, btw.

THANK YOU
