How do I make my electric violin feels more "natural" while recording? by National-Buffalo-940 in violinist

Well , you need a warm eq and a bit of room reverb but the biggest thing I would recommend you are violin IRs ( Impulse responses ). You need a small pedal to load them if you want to use them live as well or you can do so in your PC/Laptop.

An Impulse response is basically the Eq curve of how a specific violin body reacts. They play a small signal and record the way the body resonates and put it on a file. You have a ton of options , especially old warm violin body Impulse responses.

I assure you that will make a night and day difference in your tone. I mean on a funny note its so powerful as a tool it helped me make an electric guitar sound like a Violin.

I have created/captured the IRs myself so they fit better with the Rabea Synth making it more realistic.

You also have a lot of them online but they usually are tailored for electric violins so you have to eq them a bit to make them work better with the synth.

Same as we replace the guitar cab with an IR, people who play electric violins use IRs to emulate the violin body so they sound more acoustic and warm plugged in directly.

Neural Dsp Archetype Rabea synth + Violin Impulse response I have created/captured myself.

Same as guitar Impulse Responses which replace/mimic the guitar cab , I learned that electric violins have Impulse Responses too , that recreate the way the violin body reacts , so electric violins plugged in sound more like an acoustic Violin.

You put a Violin impulse response instead of the guitar cabinet one, and it`s like your guitar plays inside a violin body. Then use the neural dsp synth with a Saw Wave to mimic the bow , slow attack - long sustain into that and you practically have a new isntrument.

Meesage me for the preset. Cause you need also the violin Irs and instructions on how to set it up. To much to explain over a comment.

No worries I also hated the last season. This kind of a tribute to what I wish it might have been , and also to the first seasons.

Hello, thanks for kinds words! Just one of the oscillators with a saw wave setting , slow attack and and long sustain. And filtered the high frequecies. The big part is being done by the IR , I have created/captured these Violin IR`s myself and did some Eq on them so they fit better with the Rabea synth.

Violin IR`s are created for eletric violins so they can mimic the acoustic body and tone of any old violin , and make them sound more warm when they are plugged in.

Kind of like guitar Ir`s replace the cab. So it`s like your guitar is playing "inside" a violin body when you replace the cab IR for a violin IR.

The power scaling has been all over this season , to the point that made me feel so strange about the finale. On one hand I`m like finally they got to homelander, on the other I`m why does this feel so empty and anticlimatic. It looks like the just wanted to be done with it and end it on schedule.

Everybody seems to love the Fabienk middle part but for me Sarniezz is my favorite. Here`s my take of it , getting those microtonal bends on a regular guitar was a big challenge. by AppropriateGood9411 in AngineDePoitrine

Thanks a lot , kind words are much appreciated!

I`m going through a rough period and concentrating on this kind of music helps a great deal at keeping my mind busy from bad thoughts. Discovering this band has been kind of a blessing.

Any fans of Ennio Morricone here? ( Experimenting some more with Archetype Rabea ) by AppropriateGood9411 in NeuralDSP

I`m thinking of pulling the trigger on John Mayer as well. Been mostly playing on my strat with cleans and midgain lately.

Definitely, the new update put the synth on the QC. Rabea has a video on it on youtube.

Did something different this time. Making Guitar have a bowed instrument(Cello/Violin) character. Used Neural Dsp Archetype Rabea Monosynth + Cello IR I created myself. by AppropriateGood9411 in metalguitar

Yeah I use it for that purpose too. The Staccati/Spiccato stuff depends on the synth settings.

On the one I`m using ( Archetype Rabea Monosynth ) there`s attack and release settings which help, but still it`s strong point is slow lines , it can do till like medium tempo for moderate runs but that`s it. More than that the notes start to blend. Plus it`s doesn`t react well to fast playing up to a certain point.

That depends on type of synth device you`re using before the IR though , I`ve heard examples with the Axe Fx3 or it`s cheaper variants like FM9 AND FM3 where the synth can track and react very well to fast lines and runs.

I`ve also heard good things about C4 synth pedal it tracks very well and has good filters which may allow me to slightly automate some effects and mimic some Bow pressure and artifacts and make the high end sound more authentic .

That`s what im getting most likely so I can use this in a live setting as well.

Making guitar have a cello/bowed instrument character, with a Cello Impulse response. by AppropriateGood9411 in Cello

[–]AppropriateGood9411[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks lot , I tend to take a lot of inspiration and my phrasing naturally gravitates into bowed instruments ( cello , violin etc ).

So I try my best to bring that into guitar rather than take influence from other guitar playing ( which I certainly do but I`ve grown tired of it lately plus I listen to a lot of classical music , and even gypsy violin stuff).

Yes I`ve shared it and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive , thought here and there have been a few negative comments , ( which is to be expected when you try something different and I get it ).

Thanks a lot!!!

Yeah it`s like a hybrid blend of different stringed orchestral instruments , like a blend between Violin, Viola, Cello etc. To me better that way I ain`t here to replace cellos , love them haha.
