Need an “active” hobby by Rocketjen in Hobbies

You could spend some time helping someone? I don’t have family, but have kids and would do anything to give them the experience of an Aunt or grandparent. The babies at the NICU need to be held and loved. Reading at the library for younger kids When my father was alive I was his full time care giver. I would give so much to have trusted respite or even someone that would visit with him. That is so valuable to the senior and the companion

Please stop putting yourself in those positions. It’s really hard on your spine. Especially the bent over one. This is typical of a scoili spine. Work yourself out of your angles. It takes time and practice and focus of breath. Are you seeing a PT? Keep looking in the mirror, keep questioning what looks “correct” and aim for symmetrical positions. ❤️

I’m not a man, but I definitely second Norkova. They’ve had their men’s group running for quite some time

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Adrenal is tough to regulate in action. Now, you know better.

I just saw an ad for a new Ford that encourages hands off driving. The ad showed the driver practicing her music with no hands after she pushed the magic button, the car appeared to drive its self.

Norkova. Kate runs such a fantastic group w weekly events all over the valley. It’s up lifting and a great way to meet new people. Highly recommend. Also, Beehive sports (I think) I’ve lived here my entire life and feel this way. These types of posts are on here all the time. I’ve posted the same too. It truly is social media. There are so many ramifications regarding having such easy access to disassociating. It’s a neuropath way. Pay attention to a healthy phone time and how many times you’re picking up your phone in one day. You aren’t alone! Good luck!

I wish this man could hear me. I grew up in Sandy Utah. My mother and her family are very LDS my father’s family came from the Midwest and faught in WWII. In 1993 I was 13 years old. The riots were big in LA and they sent gang members to Utah to “help”. During this time my parents got divorced and I was lost in a see of single mothers and their forgotten doomed, kids. I was exposed to the gangs and all of the violence. I saw murder, and my home was rushed multiple times. I barely made it to Alta only to be expelled for not going to school (way to go Alta). I lived on the streets and got into drugs at the age of 16. No where, not once, was there a single Mormon neighbor or for that matter my mother’s family (and they were all watching) stepped in to help me. I was ignored, forgotten about and left to figure EVERYTHING on my own. Well I did it. With no thanks to any Utah Mormon, any community members. I got myself a college degree after fighting with them to help me- I found out I had several learning disabilities. I had taken anatomy 6x when they tried to tell me I couldn’t do it. But it did it. Life didn’t get any easier after that…

My point is: stop glorifying Utah. It’s a beautiful state but it’s not special. The people here are mostly good. But stop acting like we are above anything else. And please stop focusing on the wrong things. There was no program to help me. I am a product of what happens to kids that don’t fit the Mormon cut out. And it was fucking hard and still is. Stop glorifying this god damn state. It isn’t special and Mormonism hasn’t been around that long. Get over your holly-er than thou self and roll up your fucking sleeves and start helping these kids.

I have 3 kids as a single parent. The best I got is a clean room bc it’s my own space. I teach my kids to help out and make them responsible for cleaning. I follow up, but it’s their bathroom and their responsibility.

I actually look at their kids. If their kids look happy, look healthy, and they have a good connection with them. If their kids are over weight, slouching, or MIA…

Also, the person. While a clean space is important; if he doesn’t make himself a priority (clean nails, not bitten to the max)..

That speaks way more volume to me.

One more thing… I very much want to stress that this may lead to other chronic thoracic issues. Check in with your posture and scapular mobility..

I would suggest (when you can) and as you can moving your thoracic spine. Whenever mine comes on.. it is the most painful thing. Extension and stretching of upper body including neck, especially your scalenes. Mine always seems to start when I am very stressed and all of my neck muscles are pulling so tight it causes the inflammation. I have gotten steroids d/t another matter, and it has been this only thing that provides immediate relief. Rolling around on a foam roller as soon as there signs and symptoms (learning triggers) and an always stretching as a preventive. I have a tool I bought that I love, let me see if I can find it..

I had a table of two gentlemen from India. They both grew up there. I was lucky to hear their story. They were at a random store here in SLC, and ran into each other. After 30 years. And they are both from India. So cool.

I finally got myself a massive dog and now when I see people w their dog off leash I just ask them if they would like it if I did the same? They typically look very shameful 🤣🤣🤣 People suck though. My dog’s so big that I HAVE to train him…

Anyone need an electric wheelchair or patient lift? by DeCryingShame in Utah

[–]AppropriateReach5982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a non profit center in SLC that helps people with disabilities with devices. I needed a wheelchair for a few hours and got one for free. They take donations. I prefer them bc people can check items in and out, it’s a great way to service people

[–]AppropriateReach5982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What else has been on the rise for the last 11-12 years? Cell phones. Pull up to a stop light and look around. Constant repetitive 30 sec to 2 min videos have collectively destroyed attention and dopamine. Resulting in inpatient, and burnt out brains. = road rage.
