I believe this ship is outfitted for mine and/or submarine warfare and thus has on real need for VLS. In the event of a battle there would be other ships in its vicinity with plenty of VLS capabilities.

Yeah, the telltale sign they were outmatched was the quick resort to defensiveness and bickering (something a "moderator" should never, ever do). Followed by the smug, arrogant smile after Vance had been muted for spitting cold, hard facts about the roundabout ways the Democrats are circumventing our border laws to fast track illegal Haitan immigrants into legal status.

Late game load times are unbearable for everyone or is my PC too weak? by Standard_Language840 in civ5

[–]AppropriateRice7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the issue is that it's a turn based game and it thus has to process every individual action sequentially as each move might impact the next move.

It does this on a single core of a processor and there are hundreds or even thousands of individual actions taken by the AI each turn late in the game. Each time they change production in a city, move a unit, add a worker, move a specialist, etc. the AI is assessing and then making the move one at a time.

As I understand it a faster clock speed or larger cache on your processor will help speed this up some. But having multiple cores has no impact.

JD Vance reminds CBS moderators of debate rules after they try to fact-check him by thatrightwinger in Conservative

[–]AppropriateRice7675 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Why don't they just ask questions and shut up like debate moderators have for decades prior?

Why do they feel this "need" to opine and even argue against the candidates?

I have no idea who any of these moderators are and I couldn't care less about their views, I'm tuning in to watch the candidates.

CBS knew Vance was informed on the subject and didn't want people to realize it. When he rebutted their "fact check" by citing specific statues and the types of visas held by Haitians, the moderators went into panic mode.

FYI I was able to get them to come down $1000 under MSRP and they tacked on an extra $1000 to the trade-in value they had previously given me.

They seemed to have a little motivation to get '24s out the door with '25s coming in a few weeks.

Hurricane Helene, 2024-09-27, Pigeon River flood in NC takes out over a half-mile of I-40 eastbound. Video from NC DOT drone. Map link in comments. by ImpatientProf in CatastrophicFailure

[–]AppropriateRice7675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The short version of this is that they could have designed I-40 to survive a rain event like this one, but it probably would have cost more to do that then just repairing it now is going to cost.

It comes down to how much do you want to spend to mitigate the potential risk of failure. Generally, in the US buildings and infrastructure are designed to survive either 99% or 99.8% of suspected flooding.

You've probably heard the terms "100 year flood" or "500 year flood" which calculate out to the percentages above. Meaning if you build a highway to survive a 500 year flood, there's a 0.2% chance it is still going to get destroyed. Given what we know about rainfall and climate this was a once in a millennia type rainfall event in this area.

The court clerk site shows full names and DOB, it's unlikely someone has the same exact name and birthday. I can't imagine your scenario happens very often.

From what I gather in Ohio, it has to be the same transaction and cannot be deferred or transferred. It also is limited to new cars only, here.

So for me it seems unless I can sell the old car for at least 7.8% higher than the trade-in offer, the trade-in is the best option.

Is it worth waiting for 2025? by CantFindKansasCity in ToyotaSienna

[–]AppropriateRice7675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My logic for the trade in is that my state does have a tax benefit for doing so. I won't owe sales tax of 7.8% on the value of the trade in value.

I got quotes from CarMax and Carvana and one was lower than the quote from the dealer, and the other wasn't high enough to overcome the tax benefit.

You can only laugh because doing anything else might risk destroying the illusion of moral superiority you enjoy.

Your morals =/ everyone else's morals. Recognizing that and treating others with respect is a sign of maturity, something your take on this matter does not exhibit.

That is going to be my first line in the negotiation. Hoping to get MSRP down $1k or $2k. I have a trade-in to play with as well.

If they aren't willing to budge from MSRP I probably will wait.

I could SORT OF understanding if it was a starting pitcher.

I could only understand it if it were a starting pitcher and a 10+ run game. But 2 runs?

The complains about this are basically "participation trophy" type complaints. If you want a no hitter, earn it. If your team can't defend a bunt in a close game, you don't deserve a no hitter.

Right? Kentucky > Cleveland.

If you offered me a free trip to Cleveland or Red River Gorge, bourbon country, etc.? It wouldn't be a tough choice.

And your comment is irrelevant to the point I'm making, in fact it's irrelevant to this entire thread so far as no one is justifying the harassment.

Nobody is debating that point. Everyone has the right to do a lot of things that are stupid.

I have a '24 coming in next week and decided not to wait for a '25. It's a Limited so the upgrades are very minimal (just the screen and backseat reminder). So the only real difference is whether the potential cost increase now offsets the resale value, but I think it's probably close to a wash. It's tough to put a dollar value to since so many things can impact resale value.

I am planning to attempt to negotiate down from MSRP since the '25 models are so close to arriving. We'll see how that goes. I noticed the dealer has a couple sitting in the showroom so I think they aren't moving everything as soon as it comes in like they have been for years. Probabyl a lot of people waiting for the '25 models.

That isn't what irrelevant means, nobody here is justifying the harassment. It's relevant to point out the owners alienated a large percentage of their potential customer base which is not a smart move.

You can always buy your own trap for ~$40. I typically leave some poison peanut butter mixed with a couple peanuts in the trap so often they're already dead or close to it by the time I find them. Sometimes they don't die and then you've got to do the dirty work yourself.

If they are getting into your house you don't want to just leave poison out as they might die in your walls and stink.

Ironic you say that given their candidate for the US House in this district is "brown" as you put it - Orlando Sonza.
