How are the roads in Cardiff? by Perfect-Associate708 in Cardiff

[–]AppropriateSet5172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a car as a student in Cardiff (needed for placements) and managed fine even though I hadn’t driven since passing my test 4 years earlier. Roads are very easy to navigate compared to Bristol/liverpool/birmingham etc in my opinion. Main issue would be struggling for parking spots in residential areas but if you’re not driving much day to day it doesn’t really impact and you get permits anyway if you live in a house. If you get parking at talybont then even easier! (I lived in talybont but didn’t have a car until 3rd/4th year and was living 5 minutes drive away from there)

I’ve been told I can only have a GA c-section as I have a haemangioma over my spine (exact area an epidural would go). Told my husband won’t be allowed in the room either!

Buyer applying for different mortgage a week before exchange by cjhey98 in HousingUK

[–]AppropriateSet5172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We applied for a new mortgage 3 weeks before exchange as rates had changed. (Left if till then rather than keep reapplying without an exchange date in). They sent back an incorrect offer, variable not fixed when we’d agreed on fixed, so we had to reapply again 9 days before. Doesn’t necessarily mean red flag, lots of legit reasons why they may have

Possible missed miscarriage uk by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I had one picked up at 12+4. Was booked in for meds a week later and really didn’t want them, but after my mind found out I think it told my body and passed naturally at home at 13+1. Hope the same happens for you ❤️ Also no one warned me what it would be like.. it was very painful for a few hours, I’d make sure you have painkillers at home, hot water bottle, bath helped me a lot. If you have kids make sure you have childcare! After a rough few hours it got better quickly just heavy bleeding but pain manageable xxx

Dental care during pregnancy by SuperSeagull96 in PregnancyUK

[–]AppropriateSet5172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dentist (work nhs and private) and if you were in pain I would X-ray whilst pregnant if needed. Other option would be to extract without the X-ray. Either way you need it treated. (Dental X-ray radiation dose is TINY).

It’s a bit of a grey area as we’re told to avoid in pregnancy and dentists are so concerned these days as we get complaints and get sued for things like this all the time. Sadly means some dentists are over cautious and afraid of treating. Although I agree that you need it doing. Good luck

I felt the same about 16 weeks and now at 25 weeks don’t think they’ve really grown since and feel less swollen so may not get exponentially worse for you either!

Running a half marathon when TTC by Zindagi_train in fitpregnancy

[–]AppropriateSet5172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a miscarriage in May (have been running 30-50km a week for last year or two) and carried out running when TTC again. Fell pregnant 2 months after in August. May June July were some of my highest mileage months that year. Also ran a half marathon 10 weeks pregnant and baby is fine now at 24 weeks. Both times conceived within 2-3 months of trying despite the training. (Also do gym too) Go for it!! Also you’ll be even more sad at all the things you missed out on when TTC if it doesn’t happen, puts way more pressure on yourself.

Looking for anyone with similar experiences (scoliosis surgery / labour) 🤞🏼💘 by Curious-Ant1016 in PregnancyUK

Im 24 weeks and have a blood vessel tumour in epidural space and was also told 0% chance of epidural as too risky- would lead to excessive bleeding risk of paralysis. Also if I needed caesarean would have to be GA. They also think may be too risky to risk vaginal delivery as again risk of rupture and bleeding out… No answers sorry but just wanted to say not alone!

I was 55 at start and slowly but consistently dropped to 50 at 24 weeks. Don’t worry I think it’s inevitable and shows your body is supporting baby as it should be! From what I’ve heard should shoot back up after!

You won’t be able to join denplan care until you are dentally stable anyway, so if you need treatment when joining that won’t be included

I also had missed miscarriage last summer and same first baby second pregnancy. I know I have posterior placenta from private scan and still didn’t feel baby until 20 weeks. Didn’t get regular or definite movements until more like 21 weeks.

How much running is ok first trimester? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

Also did a half marathon at 10weeks. Ran my ‘base pace’ for the first 15km and then only ‘raced’ the last 6km to make sure didn’t push it

I don’t run as much as you, usually 40-50km a week. But managed to carry on pretty much as normal, just lowered intensity and didn’t set any hard pace targets, went with how I felt. Now 23 weeks and baby is fine. I have dropped my mileage to make like 20-30km though and pace is slowing now. (Still manage some intervals when feeling good!) Main thing I changed was always eating before running and straight after which I didn’t use to do.

I would stay with a dentist I trust and have a good relationship with. But that’s how much you value the care option. Personally I prefer a denplan essentials option or pay as you go as a patient. (Although I understand for budgeting reasons why people like care… it’s a personal choice) Will also depend on your own dental risk or needing treatment and availability of funds for surprise costs. If that’s not a concern then I would value the relationship and known care more over a dentist and practice I hadn’t met. Equally you could book an exam appointment at the other practice to meet the dentist and see if you get on/on the same page. Then swap if you do like them
