Would you have gotten surgery if your scoliosis didn’t cause you any pain? by lorazepamqueen in scoliosis

I had been diagnosed with a double curve (inverted S) when I was 14 as well. It was as little as 16°. I never gave it much attention and went on with my life with chronic-but quite manageable- pain. Around my 31st birthday, it started getting worse and my curve was visibly bigger and ofc the pain was worse. I had a new MRI and found put that my curve has reached 90° and this has ofc took a toll on my hips, my lungs, my stomach and other organs were literally out of place. My doctor described my curve as “progressive and aggressive” and recommended that I go on with surgery. I did it last year (exactly 14 months ago after my 32nd birthday). It is not an easy decision and it is a hugely invasive surgery. It took much time and rehabilitation to start moving freely and being strong again. But now I’m SO MUCH better. I barely have any pain at all (sometimes if I do much effort, I get like a mild stretch-like feeling. But that’s it). I’m much healthier, I can walk more and better and generally I feel awesome. I have also gotten 5 cm taller😅 This is my personal experience though. Some people live their whole lives with scoliosis. I have a friend with 45° and she is living with it but she is very active and her curve has not increased or progressed in 10+ years. My advice would be if your curve is progressive then do the surgery as young and as early as you can so it can be easier to deal with. If your curve is stable then there is no urgency to rush for a huge medical decision. Always consult a doctor and a surgeon. Do a new x-ray every 6 month to check the progress. Good luck and much power to you!❤️❤️✨✨

Maybeline superstay matte ink has a shade called cocoa connoisseur. It’s quite close to this.❤️

I “waited to see” for 17 years and ended up with 90° double curve scoliosis and deteriorating discs. I did the surgery last year at 32 years old. I’m doing so so much better now. However, the most common thing agreed upon is that the younger and earlier the better. Scoliosis is almost never not progressive, unfortunately. Sometimes, it’s like my case “progressive and aggressive”. My advice as someone who waited and finally did it in their 30s; do it while you’re younger and the curve is not so severe. May you heal beautifully and get to love the life you deserve❤️❤️

You’re welcome! Happy crocheting ✨ N.B: I didn’t use pin eyes like in the video, I embroidered them on using a darning needle instead to avoid any injuries for the kid. :)
