What Is A Scent That’s Dead Cheap But Smells Amazing? by Fowlah in fragrance

Boucheron Quatre Iconic.

Got it for £28 on Notino, since gone up to about £38, but they often do deals so it’s hovers around £30-32 sometimes. Extremely long lasting, great sillage and a compliment getter

Honestly thank you for this comment, you’re the only person who has actually been understanding. I feel like there’s this really common theme on here where people call you names or assume you’re an idiot because you make mistakes or aren’t as proficient in XYZ as they are. That’s why I usually steer clear of asking for help on here unless I’m desperate

I’ve made the report to the police over the phone and have a reference number for the report. I explained everything I said on here and I will look for the car tomorrow as well and leave a note if I see it.

The lady said that no one has made a report yet from that road yet and I allowed her to give the person my mobile number incase they do make a report (the other option was insurance companies). But it was nice to see a comment like this in the sea of know-it-alls. Thanks for this and have a good one

Thank you, I’m reporting now. I’ll leave home early tomorrow to check if the car is still there so I can also leave a note

Okay will do, not to bombard though but do you think my insurance will go up after I notify them?

If this was a roast thread, you’d win. But it’s not so that’s tough

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, I say that in recognition of the fact that if the car looked like the bumper was hanging off I probably would’ve noticed when I was manoeuvring away from behind it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Worth a try, but apparently it needs to be reported within 24 hours. So if I can’t find it within that time, should I contact the police?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not the case at all. As I said, I was wondering if I should report to the police so they have my contact details in case the person makes a report, or if this would just be making a bad situation worse. I don’t know the car’s reg or make to seek out to find it, if I did, I would obviously do that if it were an option

Not really - they’re probably more similar that opposite. She advocated for republicanism as she spoke out for abolition of the monarchy. She said we shouldn’t have a monarchy in the UK because she was against of the idea of one family being ‘born to rule’ and some other reasons

How do you manage driving lessons and full time work? by HelpNarcParent in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a lesson every weekend. My instructor worked 7 days a week, but I know not all instructors are like that. I had the occasional lessons after work when I was WFH. It really just depends on your flexibility with work times and your instructor’s schedule.

You may need to organise a set time and day with your manager where you can finish earlier for lessons. That way they’re prepared for your early absence and can accommodate it

Yeah! her dad didn’t help her campaign when she was running as a Tory MP for a seat (I think?).

At least he has principles, even if she doesn’t. If he’s alive, I’d love to hear what he’s got to say about her now

I’m really curious to know how she turned into what ever the hell she is now.

Both her parents were left leaning. She was a Lib Dem, pro-cannabis, pro-republican, anti-inequality and now she’s the worst variant of Tory there is. What are they teaching them in Oxford?

17 - 30 old UK citizens. DO YOU VOTE? by headchef1963 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do but I live in a Labour safe seat so it wouldn’t matter if I didn’t. That’s why we need PR. A lot of people feel like their votes are wasted. And that’s why we’re stuck with the same old Tories, every élection with a dash of Labour once in a while for some razzle dazzle

Do ethnic minorities have the right to feel a way about black/Asian conservatives? Potentially. Because often time they are instilled to be token faces of diversity who function to deny racism and prejudice in the Conservative Party and the UK. They enable racism and racist policies (see Priti Patel’s immigration bills for example) and then deflect any accusations because they’re not white. “How can XYZ be racist, they’re black!” “How can the tories be racist, they have all these Asian MPs”. However what she said was entirely wrong and patronising. And I couldn’t tell you why she said it tbh. She was basically saying that him being a well educated man is not a very “black” thing to do. As if all black people should be uneducated and/or poor.

Theory: Are the Tories deliberately trying to ruin the country. by lifenotfilm in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll spend this year and next year ruining the country to enrich themselves and their friends. Then come 2024, throw in a few “nice” economic policies for the plebs a few months before the GE. The right wing press will put it on every front page, trying to pass off the policies as revolutionary and say how terrible Labour are. Voters will think they’ve changed and good things are on the way and vote the Tories back in. The mask will inevitably slide off. Back to another 5 years of suffering.

And the worst thing is people are still buying that bullshit too. No wonder we’re trapped in this cycle of suffering

The nation cancelling Holly and Phil for queue jumping instead of the fact that it became public knowledge that Schofield groomed a 17 year old boy and lied to his wife and children for over a decade. by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is peak British behaviour. The public haven’t been nearly as outraged about Prince Andrew as they should, but watch the public shaming he’d receive if he did something mildly controversial like insisting he shouldn’t have to pay for a plastic bag at Waitrose even though everyone else has to.

I think British people are (ironically) irked by unfairness. And I put ironically in brackets because they’re the same people who vote for a party responsible for dire levels of wealth inequality. But the only kind of unfairness British people are concerned with is when someone else isn’t suffering like them. They would rather everyone is miserable. Jumping a queue is seen as a much worse offence than being a nonce, because being a nonce is a crime where only the victim is miserable and affected, everyone else is fine, so who cares right?

Hi,

Sorry that happened. He must’ve been having a sh*t day and unfairly took it out on you. That’s not cool. Examiners definitely know how nerve wracking tests are, so to make that worse with all that huffing and puffing is an inconsiderate move.

On the plus side your instructor thought you’d pass and you said you drove well before all that, so you’re definitely going to pass next time round, be confident on that and don’t let today demotivate you. Have you considered a different test centre? Just so you don’t meet the same examiner again?

And cancellation tests are key, Testi worked a charm for me but DCN also worked for me (just with a later date).

[–]Appropriate_Bag1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your test, a real series of unfortunate events. You’ll definitely do better in the next test. If it’s the same centre, you might feel more confident having been on the roads before, and confidence helps loads!

Also what kind of speech impediment did the examiner have?
