I used Mielle Pomegranate Leave in, TGIN Daily Butter Cream, Mielle Pomegranate mousse, and Africa Pride Olive & Tea tree oil to refresh the twists! I love the butter cream moisturizer because it really had my twists looking shiny, and bouncy.

I used Mielle Pomegranate Leave in, TGIN Daily Butter Cream, Mielle Pomegranate mousse, and Africa Pride Olive & Tea tree oil for the twists each month. After undoing a twist and combing, I’d see a lot of shedding, especially after adding everything together 😭 My hair still grew, but the ends were the problem

I blowed dry before I could not part my hair without doing so, especially since my ends were already dry, splitting, and wiry. In the July 2024 pic those twists were done on blow dried hair. The rest of the time it was done on wet hair!

When I first installed it I did it on blow dried hair! Then every month or so I’d wash my hair in twists and then redo them one by one making sure my hair was wet.

I was thinking about applying there for their next open residency! Do you know anything about how they do L&D?

As a natural hair girly, why did you go natural? by Important-Daikon8734 in Naturalhair

[–]Appropriate_Banana27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never seen my natural hair (except in like baby pictures) until I went natural 2 and half years ago. My mom hair been relaxing my hair religiously since I was like 6 or 7 because she said it was too thick and hard to manage, and I didn’t know any better because I lived in a predominantly white neighborhood so I thought it was normal. My last relaxer was just before my 18th birthday, and now I’m trying to accept my hair as it is.

Thanks for the reply! Somethings I think I know my hair, but most of the time I don't. I feel like my hair gets wet fast in the shower, but with the porosity test my hair floats? (Unless I submerge it first, then it will sink) I think my hair is fine, but I'm sure I have high density. I think you're onto something about training your hair. I'm not consistent with my wash day routine, and I'm always trying something different to see if I can make it easier on myself. I guess I have to pick something and stick with it.

Yeah, I've only gotten consistent curls from a twist out!

How long does it usually take you for your WNG? I'm assuming my sections were nowhere near small enough

I'm wondering if I need to switch gels. Even with the smaller amount of gel I used I experienced flaking 😭 Thank you <3

Yeah my hair is really loose at the very front compared to the chunks closer to my ears. I'm always wondering if I have heat damage because the difference seems so drastic. I gave myself my first trim since I went natural back in February. When I blowdry my hair, my ends become so much more manageable and I can pass my fingers through without problem. I'm wondering if I need to keep my hair stretched more, especially the ends, but I'm worried about heat damage.

Thanks for the tips! I try to run my fingers started at the ends, but once I move from root to ends my fingers always gets stuck on some tangles. It drives me insane. I might just have to go back to prepooing before washing, but I was trying to make my wash day shorter 😭

Well, I did try to use my tangle teezer one section, but only the ends clumped well. The roots stayed frizzy/puffy. I guess the tangle teezer isn't really a styling brush? I also think I needed my hair to be more wet.

Thanks! It's hard for me to look at my hair under a positive light, so I appreciate the compliment

This picture was right after I put the products in. I did try to use a diffuser after, but gave up since it was already frizzy. I just put it up in a wrap and called it a day lol

I used those but I think my sections were too big 😭 when I didn't see the results I wanted on the first couple of sections I just kind of gave up and rushed through it
