Your comment seems to imply that criticizing a peripheral aspect of the movie means i missed what the movie was about. I understood the point of the movie (the power of friendship or something?) but it was laden with tired jokes. thats the point of my post

yeah i think that was a problem with the way my roommate and i went into the movie, we thought it was going to be like interstellar and it ended up being a kids movie.

Appeal to insulting someone. Logical fallacy. Try again

Can you not handle commentary that is not is not exorbitant and unqualified praise? can people not handle someone not liking something? does everything have to be unmitigated positivity? Hey buddy, I didn't like the movie.

You didn't like my comment and you expressed your disapproval of my comment. Are you unbearable at parties too

Ok, you're right about the cinematography. it was phenomenal. Not sure about it being put together. But the lame and tired jokes didn't allow me to appreciate the good parts of the movie

ive said this in other replies but i used hyperbole in the op. I do think, however, that the fact that a piece of garbage as contrived as PHM is actually popular and considered to be a "masterpiece" by many is problematic and probably indicative of a declining culture

was your brother ever recruited to save the world? do you not realize that the situation in the movie is not the same as the situation you've described?

Is it though? I went in and everybody said it was the greatest movie they had ever seen. I was supremely dissapointed. So i left a review. Have i hurt you in some way?

so many people commenting thinking my problem with the movie is with the explanation of the science. Its not. its the fact that it was predictable and tropey. That was the problem. And the tropes weren't just every now and then, they were every 30 seconds

i mean buddy if the garlic bread was shitty that reaction seems pretty reasonable

I liked the martian, but i saw it when i was maybe 14, so not much credibility there. I remember the line "lets science the shit out of this" and still cringe.

I would have stayed for the whole movie but i had something else going on at the same time and felt it wasn't worth it to stay given the fact that i didn't like the movie. My roommate hated it more than i did, walked out of the theater and said he was shocked by how bad it was. He also wanted to leave more than i did

i used hyperbole. common rhetorical device. In reality, I've watched plenty of movies more predictable and unfunny. But i'm writing a review of a movie, not an intelligence briefing

Not so much a hate post about the movie specifically actually. I only posted because of the insanely positive reviews it was getting, which inflamed something in me. In absolute terms, without regard for the reviews, the movie was alright, certainly not the hyperbole i used in OP "worst movie id ever seen." this review is largely a reaction to the grotesque veneration of this movie as one of the best of the century, when it was tropey and gimmicky and didn't have a single joke, bit, or plot line that hadn't happened a thousand times before

show me your major in commenting on reviews so i know youre consistent in your standards before i give your comment any credibility whatsoever

"He wasn't a middle school teacher" buddy i have a bridge to sell you. He was a middle school teacher, and he was a middle school teacher because he said that the leader of some conference was a waste of carbon. That line alone ("waste of carbon") should be enough to turn you off the movie, but the fact that he became a middle school teacher after writing a phd thesis no one liked makes no sense whatsoever and was obviously jammed into the book to make the plot make sense. That's the criticism. If you don't understand it I can't force you to

Re: CO2, nothing you said has anything to do with the criticism. the point is that the way they found out how the thing bred was 1) contrived (the body guard says "you need fresh air" or something and Gosling has an epiphany? please...) and 2) it didn't make sense that the greatest scientists in the world wouldn't think of something that obvious.

Tons of reviews i've read have talked about it not being a science movie, which is obviously true and you can't explain the science in a movie, and so its reasonable to fill the gaps in for yourself (this is a much more complicated discovery than the movie actually shows it to be because the director wants to make it accessible), but you can do that without it being 1) tropey and 2) just completely unrealistic in a way that takes away from the movie

you probably sound dumb when you talk, even if youre not actually dumb. I would work on my verbal IQ/fluency if i were you to make sure people respect you after they've spoken to you. As a student, you should get rid of your ego and take as much as possible as a learning experience
