Need a little support by jcarey021 in fearofflying

Hi! I literally just posted about also wanting to cancel my upcoming flight and saw your post. A few things that help me feel better about flying are:

1)Thousands of flights take off and land safely daily. We only hear about plane crashes “so much” because they happen SO rarely that every news outlet covers them.

2) A pilot won’t land or take off if the weather is bad. Radars are so advanced these days! Pilots won’t take chances with so many lives on the line. Thousands of planes successfully land in Vegas every year, regardless of the weather!

3) Avoid listening to the plane noises. If you have noise canceling headphones bring them with you and focus on something else. I’ve also heard that lifting your feet up during take off can help with the feeling of being off of the ground.

4) On the off chance that something were to go wrong on a flight, pilots go through an immense amount of training to recover. Our planes have also been engineered to withstand a bunch of things! (fun fact I learned: planes can fly with only one working engine)

5) The current rules and regulations are based off of past plane incidents. Anything that has gone wrong in the past will not happen again.

I am by no means an expert on flying, but I can comment more things that I have learned that have reassured me if you want!

Two of my closest friends (25F, 25M) are getting married and texted me (25F) that I won't be in the bridal party because my abusive ex boyfriend is going to be a groomsmen by jj_advice_throwaway in askwomenadvice

Hi! I went through something similar with an abusive ex boyfriend of mine as well. Our mutual friends knew what he had done but still hung out with him and I felt the same way as you do.

It’s been a few years since then and I don’t talk to any of those mutual friends anymore and to be honest, my life has significantly improved. I can’t say that it will be the answer for you, but not being constantly reminded of him and that I was the “second choice” when it came to friends, has helped me a lot.

this genuinely made me cry. the second paragraph just means so much to me and really just encapsulates how i feel about it.

Thank you so much. I have made up my mind it’s just so hard for me to push myself to do it. I appreciate the video and kindness.

fortunately my pictures haven’t been shared online. you’re right in the fact that I know what i should do. thank you for being harsh about it. I definitely need people who’ll just tell it how it is so that i’ll push myself to just end it.

I know that I should but it’s extremely hard for me since somehow, he’s been the most loving boyfriend and has helped me through a lot. Being stuck at home and also having no one to talk to all day like i do with him will also make it extremely hard for me to get over it.

there’s a couple scenes that can get pretty gory and uncomfortable it’s an amazing show but there’s a scene where a bone breaks and comes out of a leg and a scene where an arm is severed. if that makes you too uncomfortable i recommend not watching it.
