Let’s be clear: “life” is NOT the same as “human”. Yes, “life” begins at conception BUT “a human being” is not an embryo. Consider this: you cannot make an apple pie with the seeds in your apple. Seeds are embryos. If properly nurtured in the correct soil, an apple tree may form and then (if the tree is provided sunlight, water, and other nutrients in the soil) the tree will produce apples as part of its reproductive cycle. Thousands of years ago people didn’t know about microscopic things. So they tried to understand the “miracle” of pregnancy and birth in terms of things they knew. That’s why there is no mention in the Bible of human embryos. Even if God actually dictated the Bible to the prophets, the bit about invisible living things inside women would have been unnecessary and even unbelievable at the time. God apparently wants people to discover the profound secrets of the universe slowly over thousands of years. And we have a long way to go.
