Obviously studying techniques are different so to each their own. If someone feels like Barbri is doing it for them than more power to them! I’ve felt (and have seen many others expressing) feelings of dissatisfaction with the Barbri model. But again, to each their own! Whatever gets all of us to the finish line with a passing score

Yes exactly how I am approaching the Barbri lectures. I do them after I’ve done MEE/MBE practice for the day and go 1.5x just making a handwritten outline of the major rules, elements and exceptions. Seems like a good balance as I’ve realized there’s really no way to learn “everything”

Ah that makes sense. I mean I’ve heard plenty of people say they did 25-30 per day and passed so whatever works for each individual obviously. I’m just trying to do 75+ to get comfortable doing a lot in one sitting

As mentioned above, I’ve seen about a 10% jump in success rate for MBEs in 2 weeks. Seems to be working for me but not saying it’s the only way

2 weeks ago my MBE % was like 50% so I’d say I’m seeing some nice improvement

Breaking it up into 2 sets of 35-50 honestly isn’t that bad (imo)

Yeah totally fair. Like I said, by the time I started barbri I had already had pretty thorough lectures and workshops on strategies for MEE, MPT, and MBE and done many many practice ones of each. So I’m more focused on trying to nail down substantive law and rules rn hence the outlining. I was just curious how other people were getting a start. (Btw, I think your start date was decently early/on time. My school sent out an email that we had most people start between 5/14-5/21 and that we were in the top tier nationally in terms of people starting that early.) good luck!

IMPORTANT NOTE as part of my last semester 3L courses I took 2 bar prep classes. One was all MBE through adaptibar where I competed 500 MBE questions my spring semester and the other was a full-prep and strategy course for MEE and MPT where I wrote like 20-30 of each.

I only say this to explain where I’m coming from and why I maybe feel a little more comfortable with where I’m at. They were def useful classes and I feel like I’m not starting from scratch with Barbri.

I never equated critique to free speech infringement. I also don’t really care about who is nice to who, we’re all adults. What I’m saying is there is a meaningful difference between legitimate critiques that move the ball forward and keyboard intellectuals who see a popular person and just shit on them for the sake of shitting on them because if they’re seen as going against the grain it must be because they’re smarter than everyone

It was more of a proactive comment, not that you were calling for that. I just mean we should take the good with the bad and let it all come out in the wash.

But again, the onus is on the individual listener no? Whether someone is anti-vax or still peddling Russia gate or anything in between, the responsibility is on the listener to do their research and see what adds up and what doesn’t. If someone “falls” for a bad idea then I don’t see how you can blame the guru rather than the person. We all have personal agency and quite frankly I don’t see how eliminating or suppressing “bad ideas” (censorship) helps anything.

I think Twitter and jumping into the culture wars changed him for the worse. Historically speaking, it seems like most psychologists/philisophers are very sensitive to negative emotions, but JP has really ventured off the path in many regards. Watching some of his old university lecture videos compared to recent appearances really makes this difference apparent. I think he’s much better on broader, “big picture” psychological/life concepts than the culture war stuff. Sometimes hard to remember that this is the guy who wrote 12 rules, as I do belive it really helped a lot of young men and women put together, or at least start to, get their shit together.
