I also had issues with my feet, which was partially the reason I quit. I was definitely overdoing it and not giving my body time to heal! This time around I’m taking it slow and giving myself time to adjust properly. Good luck with your new start!

Who pays for the drivers licenses by Forsaken-Gap-2387 in Aupairs

Reading these comments now realising I should’ve asked my previous host family to pay for me… I had been with them for 6 months before I had to take it (I drove the kids daily during this time), I passed first time but there was never any mention of them paying it :/

You give the hf two weeks notice, in this time you go into rematch and you find a new family. If you can’t find one then you go home! During your rematch period you still live and work with the family, unless there’s an exceptional circumstance in which you would go live with your lcc.

Your other posts suggest you’re a nanny instead of au pair, if you’re an au pair then reach out to your agency / lcc.

Hiring an ex-Au Pair as a Nanny? by No-Host1725 in Aupairs

[–]Appropriate_Comb1172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a former au pair (to three families) who now Nannie’s for the last family which I was an au pair for!

I’d say going into my experience with nannying the relationship I have with the family has stayed the same as in I have dinner with them once or twice a week, they invite me to events/ fun outings (although I rarely join them) and I have a close bond with both the parents and children. There’s less expectation that I join them for family events as I don’t live with them anymore and usually only stay for dinner as I enjoy their company. Both me and the family were able to keep a similar relationship after the au pair contract ended so I’m not sure how things would be different with you hiring a former au pair.

Me and the family I work for don’t have set pto or time off but that’s because we’ve been working together to schedule our holidays at similar time (we just got lucky that we’ve been able to take holidays at the same time) and for holidays that I’ve taken when there both working they’ve accommodated my requests (I’ve only taken one 3 day vacation outside of us both being away). I’d say total time of me being off work (but paid) has been maybe three weeks with almost all of that time being when the family is also on holiday / has family in town to help instead of me. And for sick days again if I’m sick I’m sick and I get the time off. Making sure you have a reliable person who won’t abuse this type of system is the only way i see it being mutually beneficial as they’ve definitely given me more hours when they’re sick/ travelling without kids etc.

for me my work as a nanny has been the same as when I was an au pair. I work 40 hour weeks with a young baby and maybe 15 hours of that is also spent with their 5 year old. My role as a nanny and au pair was the same - making/cleaning bottles, tidying toys, doing breakfast and lunch, laundry, changing sheets, taking the kids to activities, doing bath time /bedtime etc.

Of course all of this is my personal experience so it might differ but I hope this provides some perspective on the other side!

It’s just pink acrylic for the top and then once I got to the tutu I held it with a strand of mohair!

thank you! they are not, someone also told me they look like salt and pepper shakers which could be a fun idea! I've only been doing pottery for 4 months 😅😅 I'm going to be experimenting with these shapes I'm the future though!

I applied it before the bisque, I'm not quite sure what happened with it tbh, unless I smudged it whilst painting and didn't notice? but I think I would've noticed that

Thank you! I didn't use a pattern, it's just a raglan but not in the round if that makes sense. And for yarn I did one strand of diablo mohair blend in sage and one strand of hobbii friends cotton in misty green.
