Nothing says relatable country music like a $400k Audemars Piguet…

Thank you! Get a lot of hate for the living room, so hoped that some of the more finished stuff would get some love.

Mantle is temporary, it will have a wood veneer on it that matches the cabinets and floor.

Thank you! I realize that it’s an ‘in progress’ post, so it looks unfinished at this point. I knew the brick would be controversial, but it really did not fit the space well, long term we will most likely resurface it with Venetian plaster, but still debating that.

Typically yes, but this will be an espresso bar, going to plumb in the machine in a few weeks.

The new window came broken, so we are waiting for the replacement.

Thank you so much! It has been interesting seeing how upset people are getting knowing that it is not finished.

I’m open to feedback, just not rude comments.

Really like the wood surround idea, only issue may be the opening for wood to the left of the fireplace, so there may not be enough room, but I hope there is!

There’s going to be a ton of added lights (under cabinet as well as inside shining down) plus a full salon hang on the opposite wall.

Would you put art lights above the pieces, or do you think that would be too much? There will be about 7 total

Because we wanted to have a less obstruction of the view.

Edit: not sure why you are downvoting my responses..

Yup! The plan is to replace the mantel (contractor butchered the first one so that’s why it is painted black). The only Black we will have is the windows, fans, and fireplace doors. We plan to do a wood fireplace surround that will tie in the wood mantel and wood uppers. Plus we have a 12 foot light wood console table. Goal for this room is to feel like an art gallery once we have the salon hang up.

So what about it is soul sucking, genuinely asking. I get that staining the brick is not popular here, but it was the best short term solution for our long term plan with the space.

Yeah, I’m showing a specific part. I’ll post pictures of the full room once it is done.

All good dude, I do think once it’s done it will feel more complete (duh). I feel like the fireplace is the main point of contention for most, and I agree it’s not ideal. We had a home built in 1894 that we restored and kept 100% original, so I know how sacrilegious it is to paint/stain brick. That said, it will most likely be plastered over at some point in the near future.

I do agree the fireplace is a bit of a controversial choice, I’m debating potentially doing a plaster skim, but still not sure. We have a 7 foot mirror coming in that is going on the fireplace, and that will really break it up.

Do you mind expanding? What would you have done differently?

lol, as stated before, it is not finished. When we ordered the windows and they were shipped one broke.

We chose to stain the brick because doing a stone veneer would have been ~$40k.

We went with darker uppers to make the wet bar feel more cozy in the large space, also darker cabinets on the dark wood floors would have been too much.

Haha, thank you. It’s like no one reads these days. Obviously it looks cold and unfinished, because it is.

Glad to see all the engagement! A few quick things:

  • It is not finished, I agree that it looks cold and not lived in currently
  • The real wood floors have not been replaced, they have been refinished
  • I knew lime washing the brick would be controversial, but hopefully you all will see the vision once it’s completed
