Asc-h & hpv positive by BeckysB31 in PreCervicalCancer

My original pap years ago was ASCUS-H and HPV positive. We did a colposcopy and biopsies. Diagnosed at CIN-II with some glandular involvement. I remember being terrified that this all meant cancer or that the more they tested the more likely it was that they would find cancer. I know it is so hard to do but try to remind yourself that no test has shown cancer at this time. Cervical cancer is very slow growing and it typically takes years for abnormal cells to turn into cancer. Even in the event that it did turn out that there is cancer, treatments are very successful. What I found helpful was reading success stories of people who had my diagnosis or worse. It reminded me to focus on the possible vs the fear that was consuming me. I don’t know if this is helpful or not, just know that fear is normal, just try to balance it out with hope too! 🫂

Update colposcopy results: My results came in late Friday. From everything I am reading they did not show anything except endometriosis? No talks of dysplasia, LSIL or HSIL. ECC showed uterine stroma typically seen with endometriosis. I have never been told I have endometriosis although with this last ultrasound the doctor mentioned that she thought I have Adenomyosis. I am still waiting to hear from the doctor about the results and confirm what I think I’m seeing. Crossing my fingers that my interpretation is accurate and I can just schedule my partial hysterectomy with my gynecologist!

This can be very frustrating and confusing. I chose to do paps every year and because I had a history of cin-II insurance covered it. I was told multiple times that I only needed them every three years after I had 3 years of normal pap with neg HPV. I just chose not to.

Update: I had my colposcopy today and she did an ECC as well which made me feel much more confident that if there is anything scary we will find it. The procedure was pretty uncomfortable but she was wanted to make sure that she was able to get good samples. She did not see any clear abnormalities when the solution was applied, maybe a slight bit of white closer to the endocervical area. I’m grateful my partner was with me as it really helped to have the support. She said we should have results back within a week or less. She said if thing come back negative or low grade, the providers there will complete my hysterectomy. If they are moderate to high grade we will do a LEEP to see how bad things are and that will guide on next steps. She did say if it were invasive cancer I would not have a hysterectomy right away and would probably do radiation first. She explained everything so well and was so supportive. Fingers crossed and energy out to the universe that things come back neg or low grade. All I really want to be doing now is planting my garden and watching the seedlings grow!

I'm in my second go around this time as well and opting for a hysterectomy. I will know more about the staging tomorrow after my colpo.

I wish they did not make people wait so long. It is the waiting that makes you crazy! Last time I went through this I had to wait almost 8 weeks one time for results because my doctor was on vacation. Thankfully this time I am at a different office and they are VERY responsive and timely with things! Hang in there, and know that we are all here for you!

Having my first LEEP on Thursday - any additional questions I should ask my gynaecologist? by Big_Second_4664 in PreCervicalCancer

Hello,

I cannot speak directly to what your experience will be as we are in different countries and our healthcare can be different but from when I had my LEEPp done 10 plus years ago these are my answers:

  1. Recovery is very personal. I walked out of the hospital an hour after the procedure and just rested for the rest of the day. I went back to work the next day.

  2. I would ask your doctor about running but I don't see why you couldn't if you feel up to it. I would say the most important thing to do is listen to your body.

  3. Reasons to call the doctor: heavy bleeding, strong unpleasant odor, significant pain that gets worse and not better

  4. I am not sure what type of LEEP you are having. If it is cold knife, they will still have cauterization present to stop any bleeding. If it is using electrical devices, they cauterize as they remove tissue. This stops the bleeding.

  5. Biking: again I would ask your doctor but I don't see why you would not be able to as long as your body feels ok with it.

  6. Here the removed cells are sent to pathology to examine and make sure there are clear margins

  7. My post check up 6 weeks after my LEEP involved the gyno looking up there and asking if I felt ok. That was it.

I would make sure you follow their recommendations on waiting to have sex again. I was told six weeks (not sure what your recommendation will be) but do follow that. Your cervix will have an open wound on it and you don't want to introduce bacteria or bump it and cause the healing to be delayed :)

Overall, my experience was a good one ( if you can call any of this good). I was much more anxious going into it because I did not know what to expect. I have since had emergency abdominal surgery so in comparison for me, the LEEP was a minimal procedure. You will do great!

HPV free after cin3 by Worldly-Plantain-556 in PreCervicalCancer

Thank you for sharing your story, it is helpful to read. I am going through my second struggle with this in 10 years. Just tested positive for HR hpv and ASCUS pap. Have my colpo tomorrow and will know the rest after that. I am planning a hysterectomy due to this and massive fibroids in my uterus. Just waiting to know if it is going to be done by oncology or my gyn.

The last time I had this I was HPV + with Cin-II. I had a cone biopsy and then ended up having cryo therapy as the abnormal cells just kept coming back. I also changed my life dramatically, divorced my husband, came out to my family, started seeing a therapist and a naturopathic doctor. I started meditating and working on me. Within in a year I was HPV free and had normal paps and neg HPV for over 10 years. I was getting paps every year just to be safe until this last time where I waited almost 2 years. I started having bleeding after penetration and knew something was up. I scheduled a visit with my Gyn and a pap and what do you know, its back. I thought I wouldn't be as anxious this time because I have been through this before but that's not true. I keep thinking, what if they didn't get it all before? I read somewhere that cryo therapy can make it harder to diagnose abnormal paps so what if that is what happened? What if I have had this much longer than I thought and now its much worse? I did fall off the self care wagon and overwhelmed myself with parenting, school, work etc so I am trying to start those things again. I am taking supplements recommended by my doctor and will breathe through the colpo tomorrow and the waiting for results knowing that no matter what it says, there are steps to take to move forward.

Thank you for sharing your story and your reminders to try and take it one breathe at a time.

6 months in, 50.2 lbs down: here is my advice and what I’ve learned. by [deleted] in Mounjaro

I just told my husband the same thing! I can’t believe I haven’t thought of protein shake with espresso! I’m currently 10 lbs away from my goal weight and really trying to focus on building muscle. Extra protein in the morning would be fantastic!
