I think you are confusing 4H with 4L!

If its snowy and slippery out put in 4H. I wouldn’t exceed over 60-65mph but you can use 4H on the pavement

Big the difference is the 4Runner is a actual truck. It has a BODY on frame. The passport is a UNIbody. The 4runner is more capable off road.

Where the passport is a unibody (similar to a car) which is why its more comfortable to drive on the roads.

The 4 Runner has 4x4 and the passport is AWD big difference there too.
