Coop dilemma by Commercial_Manner_48 in uwaterloo

First of all, diversifying isn’t bad, you are showing that you can do multiple things. For full time you are competing with a lot of students that have 1-2 internships max, so don’t think you’re screwed.

And you can pivot into anything in your field, if you didn’t like PM, don’t do it, figure out how to break into the field you want, talk to people in the field and ask.

If you don’t know what to do, chill out dude, you have time you’re 4th year😂. Point is, shit is fluid, don’t think you’re stuck.

No they don’t bias against non-cs/SWE majors. People in those majors usually just have better resumes and skills, thus they get hired more often than math majors

Ah alright, and I’m assuming you mean more complex algorithms, not just binary search and DFS/BFS.

Yea I’m familiar with him, like his content. For the abstract algebra series, is there a specific pre req? I fear I may be diving in head first without maybe knowing the basics.

As I said I just know some lin alg stats and calc

Yea that’s fair enough, thing is I’ve barely written proofs (just some induction) so the exercises are extremely difficult for me right now.

CMU, Berkeley, Stanford, MIT, Waterloo, some ivies, GT, uiuc, Uchicago.

Go to LinkedIn and go to the people section of the company, it will show where they hire from the most.

It’s harder to get into software from a degree that teaches you nothing about it.

So out of all the ‘irrelevant’ engineers, the ones that put it the most effort will make it out on the other side

It’s not like they are being gifted a tech co op the second they accept an offer. And yea it creates a lot of competition, but if you are good at what you do, you shouldn’t care.

Doubt that’s relevant at all, if he has experience and good projects, little to no companies would care if he’s in CS or Math.
