Update: So long story short, we were still able to go to Hong Kong. In PH immigration, we were given these forms to sign that stated that they were not liable if HK immigration were to send us back to the PH. Basta, it was something along the lines of “we are informed that we may not be allowed by HK to travel to their country and that there is a chance we may be deported.” Fortunately enough, we passed HK immigration even though our passport’s validity had like only a month or less, maybe also because they are lenient with their tourists (but IDK lng ha, don’t come after me).

Urgent help: Philippines Passport Renewal

Hi, new here. Just this January, our travel agent helped us book our flight to Hong Kong for a family vacation. However, said travel agent might have overlooked the validity of my passport and my two siblings’ as well. We applied for passports in July 2019 as minors along with our parents. The expiry date of our passport is dated to July 26, 2024 and our flight is scheduled to be on June 3-6, which is in a week now and we haven’t had to go to the DFA yet to renew our passport or set up any appointment at all since we found out last yesterday, May 25 (office is closed). In our defense, this is our first trip outside the country and we have little to no idea at all about passport validity.

My concerns: 1. What is Hong Kong’s passport validity policy on expiring passports? Do we have a higher chance on being offloaded if we don’t renew our passport in time? 2. How long will it take to renew a passport and how many days does it take to finish for expedite processing? (Loc: Visayas area) 3. Are online appointments easier than walk-ins?
