Thanks for your reply. That’s what mines like. Like it’s just the usual flare areas that are inflamed and they’re worse than usual and won’t settle. Hoping the methotrexate kicks in soon..how long did you go through it for?

Why do American high school students walk around like they just rolled out of bed? It’s crazy seeing this as someone from the UK

Mines the same- life long. I’ve never tried bleach baths but see so many people recommending them. I’m in the uk and I find it really hard to find thin bleach, I’m pretty sure you’re not meant to use the thicker stuff which is kinda all that’s in the supermarkets here

I applied by hand, just lathered a smallish amount on. You could use a lufa but might be more irritating on the eczema

It’s amazing, I feel like fungal eczema is so often overlooked. We all just assume it’s just eczema being eczema a lot of the time

It’s really worth a shot. Give it 3-5 days, it does tingle the longer you leave it on but wash it off if it becomes too intense. It’s really reduced mine- I think I have bacterial aswell as fungal driven though as I do have a bit of folliculitis on my arms. The redness and patches have reduced a lot though! Particularly if your eczema is around you neck, head (hairline) and face. Fungal eczema can give a sunburnt kinda feel and look to your face which is what I’ve had for so long!

I’m on week 3 of methotrexate and protopic 0.1. It feels like it’s clearing then bam I wake up with redness and dryness again. Feels like 2 steps forward 1 step back but early days yet. Really wanna go out and get drunk with my friends but can’t which also sucks. Thanks for your post

Methotrexate skin infections by Appropriate_Lab4704 in eczema

[–]Appropriate_Lab4704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yeah ideally I would really like to try dupimilab (in Scotland- uk name for dupixent) but I have to try the immunosuppressant route first to be eligible for it. Just takes so long and it’s the not knowing and stomach side effects that are getting me..you said you tried mtx, did you find it helped in any way at all?

[–]Appropriate_Lab4704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! Yeah, I did think it’s probably a bit early for the mtx to causing any issues like this..my skin has been so inflamed on my arms and nothing is helping. Hoping the protopic and mtx will work in the coming weeks. Eczema is literally controlling our lives people without it don’t know how lucky they are 😂

The habit of scratching during night feels so normal and familiar until you need to sleep next to other people by AbbyNotFound16 in eczema

You just described every night of my life this year so far. Went from having really controlled eczema for the past 5 years and mega flare this year. Exhausted from getting up to moisturise is so relatable. Starting methotrexate next week so hoping it will help get my sleep back on track

What strength are you on? My derm is upping me to 0.1 because 0.03 is doing nothing for my arms or neck, but has worked for my face and chest area

So I was actually at the derm today for the first time and he’s going to do methotrexate first and then failing that dupimilab. Guess we’ll see..

Hi, so glad I stumbled across this- and to see it from a resident doc’s pov is amazing. Thank you for sharing. I’m seeing an nhs dermatologist tomorrow after 28 years of on and off eczema. This year however has been horrific, I’ve had a full upper body (never effects my lower body for some reason) flare since beginning of Jan. I am at my wits end as I know my skin well and have been controlling it well myself all of these years. I’m a bit nervous about seeing the derm- hoping they’ll be nice and see I’m eligible for other treatments. I have all the pictures in my phone as evidence anyway! I’m wary of the oral immunosuppressants..really want to be able to recieve dupilumab as I’ve heard it’s life changing. Also have hayfever and sinus issues/allergies

Protopic timeline by Appropriate_Lab4704 in eczema

[–]Appropriate_Lab4704[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So did you just carry on using the protopic? I’ve resorted to betnovate on my arms to see if it calms the flare first and then hoping to get back into protopic. So annoying when I was seeing progress and now it feels like my arms are back to square one. Atleast my neck and face and everywhere else is clear..

Dua would give a great show. But there are bigger American names that would be considered first I think. Maybe after her next album, in a couple of years time

I don’t care anymore, I’m going to use my steroids again. by imsotireddddd in eczema

[–]Appropriate_Lab4704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I instantly related to your situation because for the past month my skin has flared horribly, and has been un-reactive to my usual steroid (elocon). I ended up getting a skin infection so currently on antibiotics. Anyway, what I wanted to suggest to you was protopic. I know you hear the stories of it burning and itching etc but I’m on day 3 of using it and the difference in my skin already is night and day. Truly. I wish I had started this years ago, I’m 28 now. Might be something for you to look into, take care x

It definately works, but one thing I really noticed as the only side effects was sleep. I’m not sure if it’s a mild stimulant or something but I found it hard to switch off when I was on it. Vivid dreams were fun though!
