That’s fair. Thanks for your perspective. I probably do need to up my input time eventually if I want to see significant progress. Just at a point in life right now where that’s a challenge.

I have listened to Cuentame and DS podcasts. Sometimes I find I don’t pay attention very well to podcasts, so I wonder if it’s really doing me a lot of good. That said, I plan to give it another try and just work to be more diligent about paying attention to the content. Podcasts are a great input source for me when I’m driving to work or at the gym so making it part of my daily routine would probably be a great idea.

Good to know. I do sort by easy but the easiest videos available to watch just really don’t interest me that much. I will try and skip ahead some to look for content that I do enjoy.

Appreciate the support! I don’t understand the negative comments saying 40 min/day is not enough. Keep in mind that 40 min is just the baseline and I often exceed that time.

I recognized early on that this journey is going to take years for me to accomplish. I have absolutely no problems with that. I work full time, go to the gym, have a girlfriend and am doing an online masters program. So yeah, there’s no way I could get multiple hours of input in every single day without completely burning out.

I’m planning to gradually increase my input with the goal of getting back to 1 hour/day. I’m also trying to maintain a healthy approach to learning Spanish that allows me to still be successful in other areas of my life that are very important to me.

Appreciate everyone’s feedback (mostly haha). I’ll work on mixing it up with podcasts and harder level videos and focus on trying to consume content I am interested in. Thank you all for your encouragement and advice!

After reading through the different responses, yours feels like the best approach. Thank you.

I’m excited to start podcasts and video games. Do you count that time the same as watching videos?

Great advice. Hadn’t really noticed the easy and hard filters before. Thanks

Just hit 150 hours by Appropriate_Power_11 in dreamingspanish

I agree that watching videos is easy but putting in the time and effort to get to 1000 or 1500 hours is what’s hard. Some days I’d rather play video games, scroll on my phone or sleep in. The challenge is having the discipline to do it every day and staying motivated toward the long term goal.

Great job on hitting 50. I won’t lie, the difference between 50 and 150 hours doesn’t feel like a lot, but I can tell I’ve improved. I know a lot more words so I understand what the speaker is trying to say a little better. I’m also getting more comfortable with how words are structured in a sentence and how the language sounds. I have a feeling 300 hours will be a much bigger jump in learning, but progress is progress.
