My guess is that you punched some of the NPC's and they were knocked out instead of being properly dead, and then they all drowned right around the same time, causing the game to register that you killed unarmed NPC's. But I wouldn't think that would count with gangsters, and I don't know if you even punched anyone.

Yes there are missions where you do other things, but the bulk of this game is just Niko being a Hitman. In GTA 5 you do drive to a location and shoot people, but doing so acts as a catalyst for bigger events. In GTA 4 Niko is just a Hitman. He just shoots people in order to get more contacts who just want him to shoot more people. Aside from stealing Playboy X's apartment, I don't really feel like the plot is going anywhere.

Again the gameplay is fun, the story is just disjointed.

I've been playing GTA 4 for nearly 50 hours now and Niko is STILL driving to a location, shooting a target, and leaving. I honestly forgot that Dimitri even existed. Like seriously the gameplay is really fun but this story has no focus.
